Classes are held every Monday from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM with a lunch break. This series is designed for those impacted by mass incarceration. Participants successfully completing this 6-week program will earn a certificate of completion recognized by probation/parole and the judicial system. Transportation assistance based on need will be provided.

Participants will learn:

  • What triggers their anger
  • To understand the difference between healthy anger and unhealthy anger
  • How to better communicate to get their needs met
  • Situaltional management techniques
  • How to manage anxiety and stress

The program runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (1 hour break at noon + 2 additional breaks) for 2 weeks.

Details:

  • An evidence-based program supporting an indidivual’s skill building for the workplace.
  • $100 gift card provided at the end of each week.
  • SEPTA bus passes provided.

Expectations: Attendance daily, timeliness, participation

Curriculum: Social development, educational & vocational goals, problem solving, money management, attitudes and beliefs, physical wellness, spirituality, insurance & credit, child development & parenting, alcohol & tobacco, digital footprint, stress management, etc. includes NorthStar Digital Literacy

This event, Life after Reentry: Managing the Business of YOU, presented by the Institute for Community Justice, takes place Friday, June 10th at Deliverance Evangelistic Church (2001 W. Lehigh Ave, Phila. PA 19132).

This fair offers resources around reentry and knowing your rights! This event will also host opportunities for persons formerly incarcerated to have their record reviewed by partnering attorneys to develop a “cleaning of your record” strategy.

We invite vendors who have a shared interest in supporting those who have been impacted by mass incarceration in areas that support economic stability and mobility, voting registration, opportunities for employment, links to medical and social services, wholistic wellness, and more.
