<p>Position</p>
<ul>
<li>Foundations is seeking a talented and creative Senior Director of Business Development and Education Services to join our management team. This position will lead business development and strategic planning for the education services department to achieve financial sustainability and to extend its work at a national level.</li>
<li>The successful candidate must be entrepreneurial, a self-starter, an original and innovative thinker, goal-oriented, skilled at project design and execution, and a team player with a passion for people and the transformative power of education and opportunity.</li>
<li>This position requires a strong leader with excellent communication and management skills, solid fund development networks, and knowledge of contemporary issues in education, including urban education, charter schools, afterschool or non-formal education, youth development, adult education, and associated fields. This position oversees a team of approximately 8 full and part-time staff who design and deliver technical assistance and professional development to our clients.</li>
</ul>
<p>Responsibilities</p>
<p>Partnership and Business Development</p>
<p>• Generate new revenue to grow the organization by working closely with the CEO and Communications Department to identify, pursue, develop, and optimize our strategic partnerships and client base, including those with foundations and funders, charter schools, school districts, government entities, colleges and universities, afterschool programs and networks, and community organizations<br />
• Manage and cultivate existing relationships with funders to secure and expand recurring revenue streams and design and execute partnership-building events to showcase our services and programs<br />
• Generate at least $250,000 in revenues in year one and design a plan to substantially grow this revenue stream over the next 3-5 years<br />
• Lead grant funding research and writing efforts for the education services department<br />
• Publicly represent Foundations with the media and external constituency groups including community, governmental, and private organizations and build excitement for Foundations’ mission</p>
<p>Education Services Team Leadership</p>
<p>• Oversee and support team members in securing new service contracts, maintaining existing partnerships, and ensuring contract requirements are met at the highest level of quality<br />
• Plan and oversee implementation of annual department work-plan and deliverables<br />
• Plan and organize staff responsibilities for department sustainability and maximum personal and organizational growth<br />
• Oversee budget development and financial management for the education services department<br />
• Oversee direct program operations and evaluation; set and track program goals in collaboration with program managers</p>
<p>Organization Collaboration</p>
<p>• Consistently and regularly collaborate with all members of the management team to evolve the organization and grow our impact<br />
• Bring a high-energy, positive, results-oriented, can-do attitude to the team<br />
• Contribute to the effective execution of all programmatic, fundraising, and organizational initiatives</p>
<p>Qualifications<br />
• Master’s degree, MBA, MPA or related advanced degree preferred<br />
• At least 10 years of overall professional experience, preferably in a non-profit setting<br />
• Demonstrated ability in grant writing, fund development, and business development<br />
• Willingness to solicit and secure partnerships worth $25,000+; ability to cultivate and steward relationships and to position the organization as a strategic investment for funders<br />
• Outstanding presentation and communication skills and the proven ability to be an outgoing spokesperson, relationship builder, and fundraiser<br />
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills<br />
• Ability to accomplish complex goals and objectives requiring leadership, communication, vision, and management<br />
• Unwavering commitment to high-quality programs, outstanding customer service, and data-driven evaluation methods of both programs and services<br />
• Strong work ethic coupled with excellent leadership, organizational planning, flexibility, supervisory, and problem-solving skills<br />
• Independent, results-oriented, highly organized self-starter<br />
• Cultural sensitivity – ability to work effectively with a diverse staff, clients, and community partners<br />
• Reflective, thoughtful team player who is willing to give and to receive candid feedback<br />
• Comfort with working in a fast-paced, highly flexible environment<br />
• Strong commitment to the professional development of staff; successful track record of recruiting and retaining a diverse team<br />
