Fall 2021 Compass On Board Program – Nov 17

Compass is excited to offer On Board to place business professionals on nonprofit boards in the Greater Philadelphia region. This program builds on Compass’ experience providing pro bono strategic consulting to local nonprofits and furthers our mission to inspire business professionals to engage with their local nonprofits to transform communities.

Compass recognizes the critical role that Board Members play for nonprofits, and the challenges that nonprofits face in recruiting qualified board members. On Board will kick-off its fourth board matching Cohort this fall with candidates from several local top-tier companies and community members.

DEADLINE: Please complete your application at your earliest convenience, but no later than November 17 (new deadline). The application will require approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. While many of the questions can be completed by the appropriate person on your staff, the Board Profile section should be completed by the Executive Director and/ or the Board Chair.

ELIGIBILITY: 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations in the Greater Philadelphia area may apply if they have a Board of Directors, D&O insurance, a minimum annual budget of $750,000, and a mission that benefits the Greater Philadelphia community. Compass does not accept clients that promote a specific religion, or religious or political beliefs.

How the Compass program works
What kind of project might be best for your organization
How to apply for a Compass project
What it’s like to be a Compass client

The recommended audience is Executive Directors and Board Chairs. Compass strongly encourages nonprofits to attend the session if they are interested to learn about and apply for pro bono consulting.

Wednesday, May 19, 2021, 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. – Register here.

Eligible nonprofits can apply for a pro bono consulting engagement valued at approximately $210,000 – $230,000 – delivered free of charge. Projects are available in one of five service lines: Board Development, Funding Strategy, Partnerships, Collaborations & Mergers, Strategic Alignment, and Strategic Marketing. Position Overview
Compass is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated professional to manage and direct all aspects of Compass’ volunteer consulting program in Greater Philadelphia. This high-profile role includes client and volunteer relations, fundraising, marketing, and finance. The ideal candidate will bring an entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approach to ensure Compass is meeting the needs of both nonprofits and business professionals in the Greater Philadelphia community. Therefore, having a deep connection to the business and nonprofit community in the Greater Philadelphia region is a must. For the foreseeable future, this position will be remote. Once COVID restrictions ease, this position can remain partly remote, although Compass Philadelphia staff will resume use of our workspace in Center City, Philadelphia.

Nonprofit Client Application Now Open – Classic & Decision Support Projects – July 24

Apply for a Classic or new Decision Support Project

Compass grants pro bono consulting services to nonprofits that benefit the Greater Philadelphia community. Each nonprofit client receives approximately $150,000 of strategic consulting services – free of charge.

Select projects in one of six service lines: Board Development, Funding Strategy, Partnerships, Collaborations and Mergers, Strategic Alignment, Strategic Marketing, and new this year, Decision Support. 2020-2021 Service Lines:

NEW* Decision Support. In the face of COVID-19, these projects provide flexible consulting to nonprofit leaders. Receive guidance as you plan for recovery and rebuilding.
Board Development. Improve board effectiveness and engagement to sustain a high-performing board. Compass helps build a foundation for governance, recruitment, training, committee structures, and meeting practice.
Funding Strategy. Broaden or deepen your sources of revenue and work toward long-term sustainability through effective fundraising. Receive recommendations on untapped sources for funding, screen out less promising sources, improve communication, or evaluate earned income ventures.
Partnerships, Collaborations and Mergers. If you’re interested in working with other nonprofits, we can assess the value and implications of strategic partnerships, collaborations, and mergers.
Strategic Alignment. Articulate your strategic goals so the entire organization is aligned. We can examine your mission, vision, programs, targeted beneficiaries, desired changes, strategic objectives, supporting activities, and alignment of financial/staff resources and strategic priorities.
Strategic Marketing. Identify and evaluate opportunities for expanding your services in existing and new markets. This project can create a positioning statement and a strategy around new opportunities.
