Humanity faces a series of intensifying and interrelated social and ecological crises. Solving these crises requires a holistic transformation: a shift from an extractive economy to a regenerative economy. With a theme of “Mobilizing for a Just Transition,” this year’s Global Conference on Sustainability in Higher Education will focus on centering justice within this transformation and ensuring that it leaves no one behind. We seek to encourage higher education sustainability leaders to reflect and act on the Just Transition Principles articulated by the Climate Justice Alliance and to spotlight inspirational examples of institutions championing this work.

We invite you to submit and share your knowledge, achievements and ideas on advancing sustainability in higher education.

AASHE 2016 Conference & Expo, themed Beyond the Campus, will convene a diverse group of campus representatives including faculty, students, sustainability officers, staff and administrators together with business, nonprofit, government and community members to explore how campuses can disseminate and implement sustainable solutions in surrounding communities and the world. Meeting the sustainability challenge will require collaboration across sectors and with stakeholders outside of academia.

As a presenter, your ideas will be shared and discussed on the largest stage for sustainability in higher education. This is a great opportunity for your campus, organization and your own professional development. From engaging attendees with your sustainability story to empowering others with the tools that have helped you, your participation will create a stronger higher education sustainability community. As a token of our appreciation, all accepted presenters receive a discount applicable to full conference registration.

Expected to draw over 2,300 participants, AASHE’s annual conference is the largest stage in North America for sharing effective models, policies, research, collaborations and transformative actions which advance sustainability in higher education and beyond.
