Social Work Class of 2019 Presents: THE GREATER PURPOSE: Educating and Reflecting on Redemption and Restorative Justice</p>

<p>It is that time of year again, and we are excited to invite you to Alvernia University Philadelphia Center’s 6th Annual Community Conference presented by the Social Work Class of 2019. This year’s conference, “The Greater Purpose: Educating and Reflecting on Redemption and Restorative Justice,” focuses on criminal justice reform and the mandatory life without parole sentencing of children as young as 13 years old.</p>
<p>The Conference goals are to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Facilitate a community conversation that raises awareness of sentencing restructuring for individuals sentenced to life without parole before the age of 18 years old,</li>
<li>Highlight the issues of disproportionality and disparity in the American Criminal Justice System,</li>
<li>Offer panels and presentations focused on redemption, restorative justice, community harm reduction, policy reform, and best practices for effective reintegration strategies when working with formerly incarcerated individuals.</li>
<li>Target participants include social work administrators, managers/supervisors at public and private agencies, academicians, direct service staff, reentry workers, behavioral health workers, community advocates, and students.</li>
</ul>

<p>CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS</p>
<p>This program has been approved for 6.0 continuing education credits for social workers. Alvernia University’s social work program is a pre-approved provider by the State Board of Social Workers to offer continuing education credits for social workers.</p>
<p>REGISTRATION<br />
The cost for the program is $50 which includes a certificate processing fee, $35 if no certificate is required, and $10.00 for students. Please make checks payable to Alvernia University.</p>
