The Citi Foundation has issued a request for proposals for its 2025 Global Innovation Challenge, which provides philanthropic support for community organizations to pilot or scale solutions to social and economic issues around the world.

According to the foundation, despite recent progress, young people globally continue to experience challenges in their pursuit of employment, including skills mismatch and gaining access to quality jobs. This year’s Global Innovation Challenge is focused on youth employability, and the foundation invites proposals from community organizations developing innovative employment solutions for low-income youth primarily between ages 15-24.

These innovative solutions could include, but are not limited to: 1) technical and vocational training programs that upskill or reskill low-income youth and move them into employment, which could include paid internships, apprenticeships or formal employment; 2) entrepreneurship programming that specifically focuses on the incubation or scaling of youth-led enterprises to increase job creation and access to self-generated income; and 3) efforts to embed financial education programming into workforce development initiatives equipping low-income youth with financial skills and access to safe and affordable financials tools.

Through the initiative, the foundation plans to award grants of $500,000 over two years to 50 community organizations working in select communities where Citi has a presence. Grants are meant to be catalytic in nature, supporting the piloting or expansion of ideas and projects in the field of youth employability. In addition to grant funds, the foundation aims to support the selected grantees through volunteerism and host learning opportunities to promote shared lessons and best practices.

To be eligible, applicants must be registered as nonprofit entities under local law. For U.S. entities, applicants need to be tax-exempt public charities as per section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Applicants must be able to submit their most recent externally audited financial statements, including auditor’s notes, covering some part of calendar year 2023 or a subsequent year.

Organizations must first register and confirm they meet the eligibility requirements to gain access to the foundation’s grantmaking portal. Eligible applicants will receive access to the portal within three business days. The registration deadline is March 4, 2025, at 12:00 noon ET. Applicant organizations must submit completed applications by March 18, 2025, at 12:00 noon ET.

The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) supports the creation and circulation of knowledge that advances understanding of humanity and human endeavors in the past, present, and future, with a view toward improving human experience.

The ACLS invites applications for its Leading Edge Fellowships program, which places recent humanities PhDs with nonprofit organizations committed to promoting social justice in their communities. Fellows take on substantive roles that draw on the skills and capacities honed in the course of earning a humanities PhD, including advanced communication, research, project management, and creative problem solving.

Recent PhDs from across all fields of the humanities and interpretive social sciences are encouraged to apply for this fellowship. The fellowship will include a stipend: for remote positions, $70,000 in year one, and $72,000 in year two; for in-person positions, $72,000 in year one, and $74,000 in year two. All fellows will have access to health insurance and professional development funding, and up to $5,000 in relocation funds for fellows who relocate for in-person positions. The fellowship tenure is 24 months beginning in September 2025.

To be eligible, applicants must have a PhD that will have been formally conferred by their university between September 1, 2020, and August 31, 2025. Applicants scheduled to graduate in spring or summer 2025 must be prepared to verify, with confirmation from their university registrar’s office, a PhD conferral date on or before August 31, 2025. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for the entire duration of the fellowship term.

Funded by the William E. Simon Foundation and the DeVos Family Foundation, the prize honors a living philanthropist who has shown exemplary leadership through charitable giving with a $200,000 award to the winner’s charitable organization of choice.

The Simon-DeVos Prize highlights the values proven to strengthen communities and improve individual lives and aims to celebrate philanthropic leadership and inspire further generosity to support charities that achieve results. Specifically, the prize seeks to advance the principles of personal responsibility, resourcefulness, volunteerism, scholarship, individual freedom, faith in God, and helping people to help themselves.

The Massage Therapy Foundation aims to advance the knowledge and practice of massage therapy by supporting scientific research, education, and community service.

The foundation invites applications for the 2025 MTF Community Service Grant, through which the foundation aims to promote working partnerships between the massage therapy profession and community-based organizations. The maximum award is $5,000 for a one-year project period.

Eligible applicants include organizations or affiliates of organizations that have been in existence for at least one year in the respective state or province; are tax-exempt under schedule 501(c)(3) in the United States, or a nonprofit charitable organization in other countries; currently provide some therapeutic or other service programs to the community; and have designated a qualified staff member to oversee the program.

The Kent Richard Hofmann Foundation is a private foundation dedicated to the fight against HIV and AIDS.

The foundation invites letters of intent from community-based organizations in HIV/AIDS care as well as in support of direct services, education, and research.

Grants are made semi-annually to nonprofit organizations in support of care and direct services, education, and research. Grants will be awarded to support developing or established programs, with emphasis on direct benefit to clients or target audiences. Requests from across the United States are considered, with a particular interest in smaller communities and rural areas. Previous requests receiving serious consideration have included requests from locations with a scarcity of available funding; seed money for new projects, programs, or structures; and innovative ideas for meeting basic needs.

Applicants must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code to be eligible.

Letters of intent must be received no later than February 28, 2025, and selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application, due March 21, 2025.

The Whole Kids Foundation aims to enhance children’s wellness by improving access to nutritious foods, supporting healthy food education, and building professional development to sustain those changes.

The foundation invites applications for its Garden Grant Program, which aims to help more kids know and feel connected to their food. Schools and nonprofit organizations will be awarded grants of $3,500 to turn outdoor spaces into hands-on learning gardens that connect kids with food, spark their curiosity, and support classroom curriculum. The program supports new and existing edible educational gardens located at K-12 schools in the U.S. and Canada.

Applicants must be a charter or public school including tribally controlled and Bureau of Indian Education schools or a nonprofit private school, must engage at least 10 children regularly, and be growing edible plants in the garden.

The Mellon Foundation believes that the arts and humanities are where we express our complex humanity, and that everyone deserves the beauty, transcendence, and freedom to be found there. Through grants, the foundation aims to build just communities enriched by meaning and empowered by critical thinking, where ideas and imagination can thrive.

The foundation has issued a call for proposals to community-based archives. Through the call for proposals, the foundation invites community-based archives in the United States and its territories to submit applications for general operating support. These grants may provide support in one or more of the following areas of need: operational costs, including staff, space, and utilities; collections care, including the acquisition of new materials, physical and digital storage fees, and access and preservation efforts; and programming activities, including events, exhibitions, and increased community usage.

Organizations must have an established and actively collecting archive that has been in operation for at least two years. This funding cannot be used to create a new archive.

For the purposes of this call, community-based archives are defined as organizations that gather and share materials as members of under-documented communities to preserve and celebrate their collective histories. These archives serve to affirm and uplift their community’s existence and identity, to help combat patterns of misinformation, and to provide a trusted environment for the perpetuation of community traditions, art forms, and languages, among other forms of empowerment. Formed as counter responses to a long legacy of oversight and extraction by mainstream cultural heritage institutions and by the academy, these archives are essential to the creation of a more inclusive and multivocal American story.

Awards will range from $25,000 to $100,000 for grants of two years in length. Grant periods will begin August 1, 2025, and end on July 31, 2027. The foundation plans to convene representatives from the awarded archives in person over the course of the grant term to build a cohort of organizations that would help and learn from each other.

To be eligible, organizations must be located within the United States or one of its territories, have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or be a federally recognized Indian tribe, and have an archive or an archiving initiative with an annual operating budget of at least $12,500 and no more than $1 million.

All interested applicants must first complete a registration request by March 12, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. ET. After foundation staff have processed the registration request, eligible applicants will gain access to the application form in the foundation’s Fluxx grantee portal. Applications will be due March 28, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. ET. All applicants will be notified of the status of their submission by Wednesday, May 7, 2025. If selected, additional information and materials will be requested in a final proposal to be reviewed by the foundation’s officers.
