The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is committed to the optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being of all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.

The AAP invites applications for its CATCH Planning, Implementation, and Resident Grants program. It supports pediatricians in leading innovative, community-based initiatives that increase children’s access to optimal health or well-being.

Grants up to $10,000 will be awarded to pediatricians who plan to build broad-based community partnerships to address unmet child health needs. CATCH offers both Planning and Implementation Grants, and the applicant determines which application to submit.

Planning Grants: Grants of $10,000 will be awarded to individual pediatricians or fellowship trainees for planning innovative, community-based initiatives that increase children’s access to optimal health or well-being.

Implementation Grants: Grants of $10,000 will be awarded to individual pediatricians or fellowship trainees for the initial implementation or to pilot innovative, community-based initiatives that increase children’s access to optimal health or well-being.

United States and Canadian general pediatricians, pediatric surgical subspecialists, and fellowship trainees are eligible to apply. National and Chapter AAP memberships must be current before grant funds can be disbursed.

The Spencer Foundation invites applications for its Large Research Grants on Education program, which supports education research projects with the potential to contribute to improving education broadly conceived.

The program aims to support rigorous, intellectually ambitious, and technically sound research relevant to the most pressing questions and compelling educational opportunities. The foundation aims to support scholarships that develop new foundational knowledge that may have a lasting impact on educational discourse. The program supports proposals from multiple disciplinary and methodological perspectives, both domestically and internationally, from scholars at various career stages.

Proposals may span various topics and disciplines that creatively investigate questions central to education, including anthropology, philosophy, psychology, sociology, law, economics, history, and neuroscience. Researchers may incorporate data from multiple and varied sources spanning a sufficient time to achieve a depth of understanding and/or work closely with practitioners or community members over the project’s life. Research may employ many methods and techniques, including quantitative, qualitative, mixed, ethnographic, design-based, participatory, and historical. Projects that thoughtfully consider their findings’ trajectories, implications, and potential impacts, including how the knowledge may be shared and utilized across the field, in practice, in policy-making, and/or with the broader public, are encouraged. (The program is “field-initiated,” in which proposals are not requested in response to a particular research topic, discipline, design, or method.)

Through the program, projects with budgets ranging from $125,000 to $500,000 over one to five years will be considered.

Principal investigators and co-PIs must have a doctorate in an academic discipline or professional field or have obtained appropriate experience in an education research-related profession. Applicants should be affiliated with a nonprofit organization or public/governmental institution.

An intent to apply is due January 24, 2024, at 12 noon CT, and selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal, due February 27, 2024, at 12 noon CT.

An initiative of Schmidt Futures and the Rhodes Trust, the Rise Challenge is a program that finds promising young people and provides opportunities for life as they work to serve others. The program starts at ages 15 to 17 and offers many benefits, including need-based scholarships, mentorship, networking, access to career development opportunities, and the potential for additional funding.

Rise Global Winners hail worldwide and demonstrate brilliance in various disciplines. Some may excel in STEM fields, others may show outstanding artistic ability, and others may have a gift for community service and organizing. All Rise Global Winners should demonstrate the following traits: brilliance, perseverance, integrity, empathy, and calling.

Unlike many traditional applications, Rise uses videos, projects, and group interviews so applicants have multiple opportunities to showcase their potential.

Applicants for the 2024 cohort must be between the ages of 15 and 17 as of July 1, 2024, meaning they were born on or between July 2, 2006, and July 1, 2009.

Foundations Community Partnership (FCP) is a nonprofit, private grantmaking foundation established to support the behavioral health and human service needs of children, young adults, and families in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

FCP invites applications for its Target Funding Grants-General Operating Support grants program. The program will grant up to $50,000 to support nonprofit organizations focused on the behavioral health and human service needs of the region’s children, young adults, and their families. Organizations must have missions aligned with that of FCP and be operating in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, for 10 or more years.

To be eligible, applicants must be tax-exempt as defined by section 501(c)(3) and classified in section 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code. Government agencies and public schools are not eligible.

Letters of intent are due January 15, 2024, and upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application due February 1, 2024.

Public Agenda aims to amplify the public voice for an informed and inclusive democracy.

The organization has requested proposals for its inaugural Democracy Renewal Project grantmaking cycle. According to Public Agenda, Americans across the political spectrum believe that our democracy is at risk, and a growing body of evidence shows that citizens with disparate political perspectives share a sense of frustration and dissatisfaction with our current system. In response, organizations and philanthropists are pursuing innovations to strengthen American democracy.

Through this RFP, Public Agenda aims to support this movement to renew democracy with evidence on achieving full access to electoral participation for all citizens while strengthening trust and confidence in elections. Preference will be given to projects that have a strong potential to produce evidence that can inform the work of practitioners, advocates, policymakers, and funders. Projects with results that can provide immediate (post-2024 election) practical guidance for advocates and activists, policymakers, and funders in decision-making about reforms, practices, and strategies for pursuing them will be prioritized.

Public Agenda does not support any candidate or party. As a matter of mission, Public Agenda does not seek to advance any specific political ideology or policy agenda. Projects should contribute to the health and strength of a pluralistic democracy.

Through this RFP, Public Agenda expects to award 10 or more grants of up to $50,000.

The program is open to researchers affiliated with public or nonprofit U.S. universities, and the affiliated university must administer the grant. A proposed project’s principal investigator (PI) must have a doctoral-level degree. Doctoral candidates may be part of the research team and be named co-PIs if at least one co-PI has a doctoral degree.

The United States Regional Arts Organizations (US RAOs) are a national collective of six place-based nonprofit arts service organizations that aim to strengthen and support arts, culture, and creativity in our regions and nationwide. US RAOs partner with the National Endowment for the Arts, state arts agencies, individuals, and other public and private funders to develop and deliver programs, services, and products that advance arts and creativity.

Applications are invited for the ArtsHERE program, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with South Arts and collaboration with the other five US RAOs. Through grants and peer learning opportunities, ArtsHERE aims to invest in organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to equity within their practices and programming to increase arts participation for underserved groups/communities and share insights that may inform similar funding programs in the future.

ArtsHERE will award approximately 95 nonprofit organizations with non-matching grants of $65,000 to $130,000 to support specific projects that will strengthen each organization’s capacity to sustain meaningful community engagement and increase arts participation for underserved groups/communities. Additionally, ArtsHERE will offer grantees peer-learning and technical assistance opportunities designed to share knowledge and build networks.

Applications are invited from organizations that are diverse in terms of geography, scale of operations, and focus of arts programming, as well as organizations that work at the intersection of the arts and other domains, such as community development, health/well-being, climate/environment, or economic development.

To be eligible, applicants must be nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3), U.S. organizations; federally recognized tribal communities or tribes; or non-federally recognized tribal communities or tribes that are also nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) U.S. organizations. Applicants from the nation’s 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. jurisdictions are eligible to apply.

Statements of interest are due January 19, 2024, and upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application, due April 19, 2024.

Established in 1991, the Philadelphia Cultural Fund aims to provide funds to enhance the cultural life and vitality of the City of Philadelphia and its residents.

The fund invites applications for its 2024 Art & Culture Grants, which support organizations dedicated to art and culture, defined by the fund as creating, preserving, and/or exhibiting visual, literary, and performing arts, architecture, science, history, and the humanities. Organizations must demonstrate a commitment to providing art and culture to the residents of the City of Philadelphia.

To be eligible, organizations must have an official place of business in the City of Philadelphia, have an average budget of $1.5 million or less, have a mission that is dedicated to art and culture, be incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in good standing or have contracted with a fiscal sponsor/parent organization that has been pre-approved by the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, have at least 60 percent of its current operating budget devoted to art and culture, and have conducted public programming (in person or virtually) for at least one year.

YSRP seeks applications from qualified first- and second-year law students and Master of Social Work students to fill two summer fellowships. Starting January 1, applications will be reviewed and responded to on a rolling basis.

Job Description:

Summer fellows will be asked to work on a number of projects and activities, including but not limited to:

• Mitigation investigations and report writing for YSRP’s client-partners who are youth charged as adults,
• Supporting youth in their reentry to the community,
• Research to support policy advocacy efforts,
• Support with other programs such as Know Your Rights, Speakers Bureau, and Intergenerational Healing Circles
• Occasional administrative tasks.

Ideal candidates will be comfortable working independently and will be interested in working in a small, fast-paced environment. We expect the fellowship to include face-to-face contact with incarcerated individuals and their families. Applicants should have a working knowledge of criminal procedure and a commitment to providing holistic, comprehensive, partnership-oriented support to the youth and families served by YSRP.

While primarily targeting individuals who are part of the 25+ colleges and universities involved in the Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development (PHENND), this event is also open nationally to practitioners of campus-community partnership.

This year’s theme is The Future of Higher Education. As our partners at Bringing Theory to Practice write, “Higher education is at an inflection-point. It faces crises of precarity, of legitimacy, and of purpose. Change, big change, is coming. The stakes are high, and so is the urgency of the moment. Twenty years from now, college education will be very different for most students and most institutions. But the shape of that future is still up for grabs. There is no standing still; the options are to make change or be changed. The question that educators, students, and our public allies face is, what kind of change do we want? And what can we do about it?”

Opening Keynote

The opening keynote will feature Dr. Timothy Eatman, Dean of the Honors Living-Learning Community at Rutgers University Newark. Dr. Eatman is the inaugural dean of the HLLC. Most recently, he held an appointment as Associate Professor of Higher Education in the School of Education at Syracuse University. From 2012 to 2017, Tim served as Faculty Co-Director of Imagining America: Artists and Scholars in Public Life (IA). He is co-author of Scholarship in Public: Knowledge Creation and Tenure Policy in the Engaged University, a seminal IA research report on faculty rewards and publicly engaged scholarship.

Lunchtime plenary

The Lunchtime Plenary will be led by a team from The Red House, which seeks to shape a new learning paradigm that expands high-impact practices at Georgetown University, confronts systemic injustice, improves wellbeing and healing, while controlling the rising costs of a transformative education. Their team will present the Three Horizons Framework as an interactive exercise designed to help participants imagine and articulate various futures for higher education and beyond.  The team presenting will be Dr. Randy Bass, Vice President for Strategic Education Initiatives; Susannah McGowan, Director of Curriculum Transformation Initiatives; Tad Howard, Associate Dean for Strategic Integration, College of Arts & Sciences; and Ijeoma Njaka, Senior Learning Designer for Transformational and Inclusive Initiatives.

Fundraising:

• Identify funding streams for PRISE that include foundations, businesses, industries, government, and private donations.
• Design and managing fundraising campaigns.
• Write applications/proposals.
• Liaise with university offices regarding fundraising efforts.

Partnerships:

• Cultivate partnerships with both individuals and organizations to support the work of the organization.
• Formalize partnership agreements.
• Enhance organizational visibility in the region to include a website and social media presence.

Advisory Board:

• Develop and convene the PRISE advisory board.
• Engage the board in fundraising efforts.
• Work with the advisory board to implement the strategic plan.
• Work with the advisory board to establish the long-term viability of PRISE.

Minimum Requirements:

• Terminal degree in Business, STEM, or Education.
• Experience in nonprofit leadership and fundraising.
• Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in K12 or higher education environments.
• Experience in organizational development.
• Experience with productivity (MS Office, Google, etc.), social media, and website tools.

The Project Administrator would be responsible for supporting various projects. They would report directly to the PRISE Program Manager.

• Support of specified projects for timely execution and completion of deliverables
• Coordination of logistics for project events, meetings, conferences, etc.
• Record keeping for project management (minutes, lists, purchasing, expenses and budget management, etc.)
• Internal and external communication for projects
• Interface with PRISE Program Manager, Principal Investigators, Project Partners, Participants, and Evaluators
• Attend various program and project meetings
• Participation in team decision making and planning
• Other duties as assigned
