We’re looking for a full-time applicant, but would consider part-time with the right experience and skill-set. Our team members all work remotely, so geographic location is flexible.

Guides.vote engages potential voters, especially young voters, by providing clear, insightful, and well-sourced candidate information so they can draw clear contrasts and counter misinformation. We do so by creating and distributing nonpartisan candidate guides for America’s most important elections. Our guides give voters the confidence they need to participate, understand the stakes, and make informed decisions. The guides highlight where candidates stand on key issues, with links to credible sources. Concise, trustworthy, and user-friendly, our resources help people rise above the myth that voting is not worthwhile because candidates are “all the same.” They’re distributed by organizations including Black Voters Matter, Mi Familia Vota, the NAACP, Nonprofit Vote, Vote.org, Youth Service America, Teen Vogue, and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. Working with groups like Andrew Goodman Foundation and Campus Vote Project, we also reach hundreds of college campuses.

Collaborating with our terrific partners, we distributed 600,000 individual nonpartisan guides in our first year. Colleges with a total enrollment of 715,000 also posted enlarged versions as banners and posters in high-traffic locations, as did some community groups. The guides traveled further as individuals emailed them to friends, shared them on social media, and even posted printed versions on neighborhood lamp posts.

Ms. Foundation for Women issues request for proposals for Activist Collaboration and Care Fund

The mission of the Ms. Foundation for Women is to build women’s collective power in the United States to advance equity and justice for all.

The foundation invites applications for one of its six grantmaking initiatives, the Activist Collaboration and Care Fund, which aims to deepen collaboration within and across movement-building organizations, affirm organizations’ need for healing and rest and catalyze increased investment in social justice movements nationwide. ACF aims to correct the often-difficult experiences of women and nonbinary people of color-led organizations in accessing philanthropic funds that more mainstream, well-resourced, and white-led organizations often obtain.

The fund will invest approximately $1 million in organizations and networks of, by, and for trans and cis women and girls of color and nonbinary people of color, with individual grants ranging from $15,000 to $25,000. Areas of funding the foundation will consider include:

Collaboration: Efforts to deepen relationships, build trust, or strategize across organizations, including building shared understanding, repairing relationships, working through challenges that stall collaboration, and developing plans for acting collectively.

Healing, rest, and restoration: Efforts to heal from intergenerational trauma and/or violence (as well as from movement- and organizing-related trauma and violence) or invest in the restoration and rest of staff. This might include (but is not limited to) investments in training, convenings, or spaces that enable individuals or organizations to heal, rest, and restore, as well as investments in meditation, mindfulness, somatic practices, conflict resolution support, and/or child and elder care.

Rapid response: Efforts to respond to immediate threats, such as an unexpected/evolving policy change that harms community members or responding to unanticipated opportunities that emerge to set new legal or policy precedents.

Digital infrastructure and digital safety: Efforts to improve an organization’s digital infrastructure and/or increase digital or physical safety.

At least 50 percent of the organization’s leadership must include trans women, cis women, and non-binary people identifying as Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC). An organization’s leadership includes people with significant influence or decision-making power (i.e., the executive director, management staff, advisory committee members, or governing boards). A majority of the organization’s work should focus on issues impacting trans women, cis women, and non-binary people, with a strong emphasis on those who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC).

Applicants must be tax-exempt as defined by section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or be a project of a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, must have an annual budget of $2 million or less, and must be operating in the U.S. or U.S. territories, with a particular emphasis on state and local movements and campaigns.

The William T. Grant Foundation invites applications for its Institutional Challenge Grant, which supports university-based research institutes, schools, and centers in building sustained research-practice partnerships with public agencies or nonprofit organizations to reduce inequality in youth outcomes.

The grant requires that research institutions shift their policies and practices to value collaborative research. Institutions will also need to build the capacity of researchers to produce relevant work and the capacity of agency and nonprofit partners to use research.

Applications are welcomed from partnerships in youth-serving areas such as education, justice, prevention of child abuse and neglect, foster care, mental health, immigration, and workforce development. Proposals from teams with African American, Latinx, Native American, and Asian American members in leadership roles are especially encouraged. The partnership leadership team includes the principal investigator from the research institution and the lead from the public agency or nonprofit organization.

The foundation’s Institutional Challenge Grant asks grantees to pursue four goals: grow an existing institutional partnership with a public agency or nonprofit organization, pursue a joint research agenda to reduce inequality in youth outcomes, create institutional change to value research-practice partnerships within research institutions, and enhance the capacity of both partners to collaborate on producing and using research evidence.

The award will provide $650,000 over three years, which includes: up to $60,000 for up to nine months of joint planning activities (e.g., refining protocols for partnering, selecting fellows, finalizing partnership and data sharing agreements, etc.); and funding for two years of a full-time equivalent fellowship. In addition, universities are required to fund one additional year of a full-time equivalent fellowship, up to three years of support for the partnership to conduct and use research to reduce inequality in youth outcomes, resources to advance the proposed institutional shifts and capacities of both partners; and indirect cost allowance of up to 15 percent of total direct costs.

To be eligible, research institutions must be from tax-exempt organizations, including university-based research institutes, schools, or centers. Institutions outside the academy, such as research organizations and think tanks, are not eligible. Proposals are encouraged from organizations that are under-represented among grantee institutions, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-serving Institutions, Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), Alaska Native-serving Institutions, Native Hawaiian-serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-serving Institutions (AANAPISIs).

Our instructors were leaders in food culture work, mostly women of color embedded at the front lines of these issues. We partnered with three local community agriculture sites — Sankofa Community Farm at Bartram’s Garden, Iglesias Gardens, and Norris Square Neighborhood Project — where we spent mornings working with the land, sharing stories of resistance and regeneration, and taking part in culturally relevant meals prepared by these same teachers: Lex Wiley and Chef Laquanda Dobson at Sankofa; Cesar Viveros and Erendira Solano at Iglesias; and Cesali Morales and Iris Brown at Norris Square.

The principal objective of this course — which will run again this September — is to bring students into immediate contact with food security projects through close, hand-to-hand work alongside expert practitioners. Through the virtual sessions, they are encouraged to make connections to global conditions and to structural parallels. And through the open learning platform, where they can access readings, reflection questions, and discussion prompts, students cultivate intellectual curiosity and an analytical framework.

The 9/11/01 attacks generated a renewed sense of patriotism and commitment to protecting our democracy. (In fact, 9/11/01 was a primary election day in New York City!) 4 million people turn 18 each year and become eligible to vote. In many states, you can pre-register if you will be 18 by the next election. 9/11 Day of Service is a perfect time to pre-register or register new, young voters or to organize civic education activities. Register to vote or check your registration status here.
