<p>The American Psychological Foundation is inviting applications for its 2020 Visionary Grants.</p>
<p>The APF Visionary Grants program seeks to seed innovation in the field through supporting research, education, and intervention projects and programs that use psychology to solve social problems in the following priority areas: applying psychology to vulnerable, at-risk populations (e.g., serious mental illness, returning military, those who are incarcerated or economically disadvantaged); preventing violence; understanding the connection between behavior and health (e.g., wellness, diabetes, obesity); and understanding and eliminating stigma and prejudice (e.g., race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability and socioeconomic status).</p>
<p>Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded through the program.</p>
<p>Preference will be given to pilot projects that, if successful, would be strong candidates for support from major federal and foundation funding agencies and &#8220;demonstration&#8221; projects that promise to generalize broadly to similar settings in other geographical areas and/or to other settings.</p>
<p>To be eligible, applicants must be a graduate student or early-career researcher (no more than ten years postdoctoral) and be affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational, or scientific institution or a governmental entity operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.</p>

<p>Since 1983, the AccessLex Institute has continually evolved to meet the ever-changing challenges and needs of the law students and the institutions it serves by conducting and commissioning research that illuminates the most critical issues facing legal education today.</p>
<p>To that end, the institute&#8217;s Diversity Pipeline Research Grant Program provides funding to programs and initiatives aimed at helping college students and/or college graduates from historically underrepresented groups successfully matriculate into law school and the legal profession.</p>
<p>The primary goal of the program is to increase the knowledge base around effective methods for increasing the enrollment and success of law students from historically underrepresented racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. Accordingly, the institute seeks to fund collaborative programs that provide participants with meaningful content and experiences as well as holistic support. Funded programs must engage in rigorous program evaluation, systematically measure outcomes, and identify scalable best practices.</p>
<p>The institute will accept and review Letters of Intent for the program from March 1 to March 31. Applicants invited to submit a full proposal will be notified by May 31, with full proposals due by June 30 and funding invitations announced by September 30.</p>

<p>For the summer 2020 grant cycle, Letters of Interest must be received no later than April 7. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by May 5.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Forging Ahead with Vision and Insight: Celebrating 10 Years of Civic Engagement at Rutgers University—Camden, April 23, 2020</p>
<p>As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we are taking time to reflect about the future of our work, both as an institution and being part of a collective of higher education institutions focused on civic engagement. As the field of university-community partnerships has grown over the past decade, we, along with our peers, have seen significant success in increasing the hours of student volunteerism in our communities, expanding service learning and community engaged scholarship and building educational pipeline initiatives that support young people in gaining access to opportunities that can lead them to higher education. However, the issues that affect the communities in which we are situated are urgent, and as we move into the future of this work we must ask, are we taking a “critical” approach to civic engagement? By this we mean are we focused on calling attention to and working towards the dismantling of the structures of injustice that exist in our communities and creating meaningful, sustainable social change? Where our effects touch the surface, how can we push deeper and make broader and more inclusive transformation?</p>
<p>At this symposium we will reflect on these questions and our own work at Rutgers University—Camden but will also create a space for a deeper conversation across the field of higher education and critical civic engagement. How are we addressing inequity through civic engagement work? How are we thinking critically about partnerships that take into consideration issues of social justice, race, class, power, and institutional change/transformation? Who are we engaging with and how are we centering the experiences and stories of those in the communities in which we work, and who is left out? What challenges or mistakes have we made when aiming to work from this perspective and how have we course corrected? Over the course of the day, we will discuss these complex questions, share best practices and challenge each other to reflect on our work in new ways.</p>
<p>We are seeking invited proposals to present at the symposium that are focused on addressing the questions above, specifically through the lens of K12 education, college access or educational pipeline approaches, health equity or initiatives that focus on centering the voices and experiences of residents. Please submit an abstract of no more than 300 words outlining the topical area(s) you will address and how the presentation will respond to the critical questions above by <strong>March 13, 2020</strong>. Each panel will be one hour, with 15 minutes for each presentation. Each external panelist will be paired with a Rutgers University—Camden faculty or staff person who will also present on the panel. <p>Responsibilities:</p>
<p>Healthcare Policy Analysis and Technical Assistance: As part of the Policy team, the Healthcare Policy Manager will research, develop, document, and promote strategies to streamline access to Medicaid and other healthcare-related benefits and provide technical assistance to government agencies to successfully adopt policy and practice innovations. Specific responsibilities include:</p>

<li>Build and maintain a strong knowledge of laws and regulations related to Medicaid and other health-related benefits.</li>
<li>Research and develop policy strategies to improve access to Medicaid and other health-related benefits, including using federal waivers, state policy options, and practice changes.</li>
<li>Make the case to policymakers, advocates, and public sector agencies partners to adopt new policy strategies and provide technical assistance on implementation.</li>
<li>Build BDT’s reputation as a thought leader in the healthcare policy space by presenting at meetings and conferences, participating in working groups and allied organizations, and writing blogs, articles, tool-kits, playbooks, and other publications.</li>
<li>Ensure BDT’s inclusion in public RFIs, RFPs, etc. related to healthcare.</li>
<li>Prepare public comments on federal and state proposals related to Medicaid.</li>
</ul>
<p>Healthcare Business Research and Analysis: The Healthcare Policy Manager will advance the development of BDT’s scalable, tested, outreach, and enrollment model for working with Medicaid managed care organizations and other healthcare payers. Specific responsibilities include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Build financial models and other quantitative tools to refine BDT’s strategy with states and private sector healthcare payers.</li>
<li>Inform BDT’s healthcare business strategy by tracking changes in regulations, analyzing market trends and health plans, identifying business opportunities, and measuring ROI.</li>
<li>Work closely with the strategy, policy, partnerships, finance, and data science teams at BDT to craft proposals that are innovative, sound, and viable.</li>
<li>Working with partnerships and other internal teams on BDT’s strategy for promoting the inclusion of benefits access initiatives in state Medicaid plans and managed care plan bids.</li>
</ul>
<p>Requirements:</p>

<li>JD or master’s degree in public administration, public policy, public health, or a related field preferred</li>
<li>Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience</li>
<li>In-depth knowledge of Medicaid, the public benefits landscape, and MCOs</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to read and interpret statutes, regulations, and policy manuals</li>
<li>Working knowledge of data-sharing agreements preferred</li>
<li>Experience in data privacy and security preferred</li>

The Deputy Managing Director of Criminal Justice and Public Safety oversees a cluster of agencies including the Office of Reentry Partnerships, Office of Criminal Justice, Office of Violence Prevention, Department of Prisons, Police Department, Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management, the Department of Licenses &amp; Inspections, and the Counsel Fees Unit. Additionally, the division serves as the liaison to the First Judicial District, District Attorneys Office, the Sheriffs Office, and the Defenders Association.</p>
<p>Job Description</p>
<p>The Deputy Director for Operations will provide leadership and management of the daily operation of ORP, including responsibility for managing daily operations, implementing programmatic initiatives, managing multiple levels of staff, and formulating office policies and procedures. This senior level management position will report directly to the Senior Director of ORP, and work closely with the Deputy Director for Strategy and Planning and other senior staff.</p>
<p>Essential Functions</p>
<ul>
<li>Provide leadership and management of the daily operations of ORP, including but not limited to programmatic initiatives and/or services, staff policies and procedures, administrative office functions, and budget.</li>

<li>Create and operationalize a culture of authentic and ongoing partnership with people, families, and communities most directly impacted by reentry.</li>
<li>Develop program policies and procedures to support the operational workflow of all ORP activities and programs; be responsible for communication and implementation of all new policies and procedures for ORP staff; and ensure that all ORP office policies and procedures are documented, filed, and kept current in ORP operations manual.</li>
<li>Responsible for staff recruitment, hiring, and onboarding (working with appropriate City departments), and identifying opportunities for staff development and advancement (working with the Director of Training).</li>
<li>Provide constructive supervision for all direct reports including ongoing performance feedback.</li>
<li>Responsible for managing ORPs budget, working closely with other senior staff at ORP and the CJPS Director of Finance and Administration.</li>
<li>Represent the City of Philadelphia in a variety of events and meetings with internal and external stakeholders, as well as in the media.</li>

Within the organization, we are actively building a workplace culture that demonstrates how we value equity and inclusion through more intentional and inclusive practices. <p>The Upper Bucks County Civic Organizer is primarily responsible for building a sustainable volunteer advocacy program in the northern parts of Bucks County. The Organizer will report to the Field Director and will serve as the principle point of contact for Upper Bucks activists and volunteers. The position is non-political, non-partisan, and full-time exempt at PennFuture, a 501(c)3 environmental advocacy organization in Pennsylvania. The Organizer may, from time-to-time conduct work for our allies at Conservation Voters of PA.</p>
<p>In Particular, The Organizer Will Civic Engagement:</p>
<ul>
<li>Manage regional volunteer recruitment and engagement to advance PennFuture’s policy goals.</li>
<li>Implement grassroots tactics to engage prospective volunteers and train them to become volunteer leaders.</li>
<li>Become a member of local coalitions and begin new coalitions and advocacy groups, as necessary.</li>
<li>Attend regional events and become immersed in local advocacy efforts.</li>
