The Quarter is composed of seven Monthly Meetings between Camden and Atlantic City area, New Jersey. In conjunction with the Welcoming Children and Families Committee, the coordinator will organize and run activities during Quarterly meetings and develop personal relationships with parents, children, and Monthly Meeting contacts. Compensation will be $15-20 per hour, up to 25 hours per month. Job Description

Impact Manager Supervision

• Develop, manage, and coach Impact Managers through daily contact, site visits to schools, weekly check-ins, goal setting and planning, performance reviews and individual and group professional development opportunities
• Provide guidance on meeting monthly, quarterly, and annual Impact goals and administrative deadlines
• Facilitate best practice sharing across teams
• Support Impact Managers in team leadership and in their reinforcement of compliance with all AmeriCorps standards and policies
• Build a collaborative team amongst Impact Managers and school teams the ID supervises through “village meetings” and initiatives

Service Impact & Evaluation

• Track, assess and action plan with Impact Managers on data deliverables, teams’ progress, observations, and general service impact on an individual and multi-manager basis
• Work with Impact Managers to coach Americorps members on and ensure the quality of their daily service implementation
• Regularly observe classroom and after-school programming
• Collaborate with Impact Analytics staff to ensure timely entry of all data, address inaccuracies as needed and track task completion
• Work with the Instructional Coaches (ICs) to regularly observe and provide feedback around classroom and out-of-school activities; partner with ICs and IMs to identify strategies for AmeriCorps member coaching and development
• Ensure high safety standards are met for all in-school, after-school, and out-of-school activities where City Year is the lead partner, or is working in partnership with the schools, district, or other community partner

Relationship Management

• Build and maintain relationships; support Impact Managers in building strong relationships with school site stakeholders; serve as supervisory contact with principals and school liaisons
• In partnership with the Senior Director of Impact Delivery, identify barriers to service implementation at the school and district levels, and support in trouble-shooting solutions while identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to spread promising or best practices
• Develop and advance relationships with Network Assistant Superintendents to advance impact outcomes and remove barriers at the school and district levels
• Intervene during any City Year Philadelphia and/or school crises
• Create and oversee neighborhood engagement strategy, including partnering with site leadership on cultivating local government relationships and other city/neighborhood engagement
• Annually recommit all existing City Year Philadelphia school partners who meet Conditions for Success thresholds and secure additional City Year partners (as appropriate)

AmeriCorps Member Management, Training, and Development

• Maintain site’s adherence to standards and national programmatic baselines
• Partner with Corps Director to ensure execution of and compliance with all AmeriCorps and City Year requirements, policies and audits
• Collaborate with Impact Leadership Team to establish training vision and execution plan, providing support for AmeriCorps member trainings as needed
• Communicate with Impact Managers regarding AmeriCorps member development needs
• Coach Impact Managers and AmeriCorps members through team management, accountability, and standards issues, including related disciplinary actions

Organizational Initiatives & Site Support

• Collaborate with site directors and other leaders on the ongoing operations of the organization and accomplishment of all departments’ goals in a mutually beneficial way
• Participate as a member of the Site Leadership Team, the Department Director Team and Impact Leadership
• Team, providing strategic insight into site priorities
• Participate as a member of the City Year national network’s Program and Service Team
• Lead on selected network initiatives, as needed, including creating baseline trainings, collateral, and tools
• Partner with City Year Philadelphia’s departments and staff to ensure that site-wide goals are met, including, but not limited to, the AmeriCorps member applicant interview process, stakeholder engagement, event and service day participation, and cross-departmental committees
• Attend overnight conferences including Summer Academy, a week-long training conference for all City Year Staff held in Boston in July, and additional engagement and training activities

• Coordinate and convene the Bethune Elementary School’s Transformation committee’s monthly meetings, while serving as representative of North10.
• Consult with Lenfest Center leadership regarding program development, with the goal being to increase use of available neighborhood resources by Lenfest Center families and increase community and stakeholder access to Lenfest Center programming.
• Collect, capture, and present qualitative and quantitative data on the Bethune Elementary and Lenfest Center catchment area.
• Visit representatives at local schools to cultivate relationships, discuss improvement of programming, and build information gathering and data sharing systems in support of North10 mission
• Support research efforts to facilitate access to high quality early childhood providers and adult learning opportunities.
• Coordinate outreach efforts that will engage residents in making choices that have positive impact on their community
• Systematize avenues of communication between North10 stakeholders and partners
• Support North10 leadership in the development and initial implementation of a three-year strategy for North10, Philadelphia
• Support logistics and preparation for North10 meetings with partners and stakeholders (i.e. leaders of local community-based organizations, faith leaders, community activists, and law enforcement) to discuss improvement strategies for prominent commercial corridors, development plans for newly acquired properties, and securing access to affordable housing
• Occasionally represent North10 at conferences and meetings when Director of Community Partnerships & Strategy or Executive Director are unavailable and/or when the events are relevant to the direct work of the Manager

Ideal Candidates:

• Deeply believe in the mission and vision of North10, Philadelphia, demonstrated by prior experience working in neighborhoods with high poverty and other systemic barriers to success
• Have at least five years of experience working in schools, after-school programs, or other educational centers and settings
• Bring passion and excitement about working on the ground and in partnership with the local community to revitalize the Hunting Park and East Tioga, ideally through a meaningful connection to or experience with North Philadelphia or similar neighborhoods
• Thrive in and are able to execute in a “startup”, entrepreneurial-like environment characterized by ambiguity and not having a road map
• Demonstrate strength in community engagement, relationship building or managing community partnerships; ideally in communities like ours
• Have at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education, Urban Studies, Social Work, Community Organizing, Public Health or related areas; Master’s preferred.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The coordinator assists faculty with educational experiences connected to integrated learning (i.e. service learning, experiential learning, etc.) for their courses. • In conjunction with the Center for Faculty Development, support trainings and workshops for faculty engaged or interested in developing integrated learning programs for their course.

• Collaborate with marketing and communications to develop promotion and marketing materials for integrated learning and Academic Affairs initiatives. Maintain Integrated Learning webpage on Engage, the student life platform.

• Manage integrated learning budget, and track all expenses for annual reporting. Oversee allocation committee for integrated learning initiatives.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education/Training/Work Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Educational Leadership, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field required, Master’s degree preferred.

• Minimum of two years of integrated learning, service learning, and/or civic engagement experience required.

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics is inviting proposals from pre-K teachers for a collaborative action research project aimed at improving their understanding of mathematics in pre-K–8 classrooms.

Primary emphasis will be placed on collaboration among a team of researchers consisting of university, elementary/middle school teachers, and preservice teachers from the undergraduate ranks. The action research should be designed, implemented, and completed with a focus on enhancing the teaching and/or learning of mathematics in grades pre-K–8.

A single grant of up to $3,000 will be awarded. Grant funds should be used to support expenses needed to plan and carry out the research.

The applicant must be a current full individual or e-member of NCTM or must teach at a school with a current NCTM pre-K–8 school membership. The participating preservice teacher(s) must be in an initial licensure/certification program at the undergraduate level and, at some point during the term of the grant, must be engaged in some form of practicum experience or student teaching.

Established by children’s book author and illustrator Ezra Jack Keats, the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation is accepting applications from public schools and public libraries anywhere in the United States and its territories to its mini-grants program, which supports projects that foster creative expression, collaboration, and interaction with a diverse community.

Through the program, mini-grants of up to $500 will be awarded to educators in support of special activities and events outside the standard curriculum. Projects funded in the past have included murals, pen pal groups, quilts, theater productions, student newspapers and other publications, intergenerational activities, and programs that bring disparate communities together.

Any public school or library is eligible to apply, as are preschool Head Start programs, Private and parochial schools and charter schools are not eligible. Applicants must be located in the U.S. or one of its commonwealths or territories, including Puerto Rico and Guam. Only one application from a library or school will be considered.
