<p>The mission of the Captain Planet Foundation is to promote and support high-quality educational programs that help children and youth understand and appreciate our world through learning experiences designed to engage them in active hands-on projects that improve the environment in their schools and communities.</p>
<p>Grants are intended to serve as a means of bringing environment-based education to schools and inspire youth and communities to participate in community service through environmental stewardship activities. The foundation will fund unique and innovative projects that do not precisely match the grant guidelines but otherwise promote the foundation&#8217;s mission of hands-on environmental activities.</p>
<p>The foundation makes grants to schools and nonprofit environmental and educational organizations in the U.S. with annual operating budgets of less than $3 million. Preferential consideration will be given to requests seeking seed funding of $500 or less and to applicants who have secured at least 50 percent matching or in-kind funding for their projects. On occasion, the foundation will consider grants of up to $2,500.</p>

<p>U.S.-based artists and artist collectives seeking to work full-time on a project are encouraged to apply.</p>

This position will be primarily responsible for supporting the CEO in managing the day to day operations of the organization, including management of certain Chapters, development of internal communications, policies and procedures, and management of the National Board and National Partners.</p>
<p>Essential Functions:</p>
<ul>
<li>Manage 3-5 local BoMF Chapters with total budgets of circa $1.5-$2M</li>
<li>In the absence of an Executive Director in a local market, act as interim Executive Director (ED), managing staff, key fundraising activities and local Board. Oversee hiring activities for new Executive Director positions</li>
<li>Support CEO in execution of key aspects of the strategic plan, including workforce development programming and approach to launching of new Chapters (e.g franchise model)</li>
<li>Manage and, as necessary, develop organization policies including but not limited to: program policies, event policies, fundraising policies, new hire training manuals and recruitment policies</li>
<li>Lead weekly ED calls to share national updates and maximize opportunities for sharing best practices</li>
<li>Manage internal communications including all staff calls and email updates</li>
<li>With the support of HR, develop comprehensive training manuals for all positions</li>
<li>Oversee the planning and execution of the annual staff retreat</li>
<li>Manage the legal relationship with our pro bono law firm Morgan Lewis, including trademarking and new partnership contract development</li>
<li>As required, serve as a spokesperson for the organization in the absence of the CEO</li>
<li>Support CEO and work collaboratively with national team on maximizing all existing National Partnerships and expanding/integrating new Partnerships across local Chapters</li>
<li>Lead development of all National Board and local Advisory Board meetings/call materials with support of National Coordinator</li>
</ul>
<p>Qualifications &amp; Experience</p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred</li>
<li>7-15 years of progressive operational or relationship management experience required. Mixture of nonprofit and corporate experience preferred (particularly experience in management consulting firms). Individuals seeking a career shift from corporate positions are encouraged to apply</li>

<p>Job Responsibilities<br />
Facilitation and Organization of grant submissions (35%)</p>
<ul>
<li>Act as the point person throughout the proposal preparation process to communicate information to and from research team members, sponsor, sponsored projects office, and research business manager; organize meetings and conference calls.</li>
<li>Read and understand proposal requirements and develop plan for proposal completion including systematically collecting components (e.g. biosketches, letters of support, facilities descriptions, personnel information), determining timelines, and creating/maintaining collaborative workspaces</li>
<li>For electronic submissions, upload all documents in correct format and ensure that all required elements are complete. Work with sponsored projects office to see through to submission. For paper submissions, compile all components and oversee sign-off, copying, collating and mailing of all required documents.</li>
</ul>
<p>Grant Writing (35%)</p>
<ul>
<li>Write all ‘non-science’ grant sections, including facilities and resource descriptions, human subjects protection, project management, data security, organizational capabilities, budget justifications, draft letters of support, etc.</li>
<li>Complete enrollment tables, compile and format references and appendices</li>
<li>Compile above sections along with sections written by investigative team members (including sub-sites), ensure uniform document formatting, and oversee review and editing of entire document by team.</li>

<p>Grant Budgeting (20%)</p>

<li>Communicate with PI to determine project needs. Gather personnel costs and contact other internal and external sources and vendors as needed to determine other project costs. If applicable, work with research purchasing office and clinical trials financial management team to determine costs.</li>
<li>Develop preliminary budget and work with research business manager to formalize and place in correct format.</li>
<li>Work with project team to revise as needed per grant funding limits.</li>

Our free, out-of-school writing programs in South, West &amp; North Philadelphia have grown to serve 2,000 kids a year. We currently have four locations in Philadelphia, including a bilingual (Spanish/English) site in the Italian Market section of Philadelphia, a hub of the Mexican American community.</p>
<p>Position Description<br />
The MW Bilingual Writing Instructor &#8211; Temporary will write curriculum and teach in a variety of capacities at Mighty Writers El Futuro for a minimum of six weeks. S/he will work with the Mighty Writers leadership team to revise and refine our curriculum annually. The MW Bilingual Writing Instructor (Spanish/English) will help teach an aggressive lineup of year-round, bilingual (Spanish/English), out-of-school programs, four weekday afternoons/evenings a week and one weekend day, with the support of a robust volunteer program.</p>
<p>The successful applicant will be entrepreneurial: able to build unique programs, to be accountable and to take ownership of program results. S/he will have high expectations for students, will work well with diverse constituencies and will have a good rapport with people of all ages and backgrounds, including children, teenagers, parents and volunteers. S/he will be self-motivated, work well under pressure and be able to handle several projects at one time. S/he will have good judgment and an eye for detail; as well as the ability to see the big picture. Native Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.</p>
<p>This position will begin in January 2017 and last for a minimum of 6 weeks, with the opportunity to grow into a permanent, part-time position. Salary commensurate with experience.</p>
<p>Responsibilities</p>
<p>Administrative<br />
• Be a part-time (starting at 25 hours/week) face of Mighty Writers, serving as primary parent liaison and translator<br />
• Recruit kids and teens for programs, workshops and mentorships through targeted outreach to students, parents, educators and community members<br />
• Revise and translate written materials for the site, as needed<br />
• Manage and implement writing curriculum for the MW Academy four weekday afternoons/evenings for kids in grades 3-8, serving as Bilingual Writing Instructor (Spanish/English) for one weekend day.<br />
• Revise and refine organization-wide curriculum annually (as a part of a team)<br />
• Design, implement and teach at least one writing workshop for students from various age groups<br />
• Support evaluation to track and measure student progress across programs<br />
• Help to oversee all operations, such as:<br />
o Troubleshoot physical site issues as needed (electric, HVAC, plumbing)<br />
o Keep sites in good shape<br />
o Outfit spaces with new/current technology and replace as needed.<br />
o Update décor as needed<br />
o Systems (computers, phones)</p>
<p>The Bilingual Writing Instructor (Spanish/English) also manages some administrative tasks such as:<br />
o Light filing o Data entry o Document creation<br />
• Remain knowledgeable and informed regarding any issues, regulations or professional standards that may impact Mighty Writers’ policies or operations<br />
• Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent or sensitive information</p>
<p>Supervisory<br />
• The Bilingual Writing Instructor (Spanish/English) reports to the Program Director of their site.<br />
• The Bilingual Writing Instructor (Spanish/English) will share responsibility for continuing, training and managing volunteer program, to ultimately include at least 150 volunteers annually.</p>
<p>Education and Work Experience<br />
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts Administration, Liberal Arts, History, English (preferred, but not required); and/or equivalent prior experience<br />
• Experience working directly with city youth in an educational setting<br />
• Understanding of community youth development programming</p>

<p>Essential Functions<br />
1. Provide 25 hours of telephone crisis intervention, counseling, and advocacy services through the Philadelphia Domestic Violence hotline.<br />
2. Participate in the Philadelphia Hotline Collaboration monthly meetings as a representative of the LDVP.<br />
3. Conduct assessments and crisis intervention to assist with walk-in clients as needed.<br />
4. Conduct an initial client intake.<br />
5. Maintain accurate and up to date client file and documentation.<br />
6. Work closely with the collaborative domestic violence agencies and other partners to coordinate services for domestic violence victims<br />
7. Comply with all client confidentiality regulation as specified by agency, funding source, local, state and federal regulations.<br />
8. Submit monthly and quarterly programmatic narrative and statistical reports to supervisor.<br />
9. Regularly attend and actively participate in staff meetings. Staff training sessions, case reviews, etc.<br />
10. Hotline Staff are to comply with essential staff policy during weather related closures.</p>
<p>Experience, Education, and Licensure</p>
<p>Minimum Experience:<br />
 1-3 years’ work experience in domestic violence counseling and advocacy.<br />
 Knowledge of and proficient on the Latino culture and community of Philadelphia.<br />
 Knowledge of the domestic violence issues and dynamics related to the Latino community.<br />
 Knowledge of the impact of trauma on children and families.<br />
 Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.</p>
<p>Minimum Education:<br />
 Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field required; or Suitable combination of education and three to five years direct counseling experience in related field may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree requirement.</p>
<p>Certification/License: Completion of the Domestic Violence 40 hour training provided by an approved PCADV membership program. Maybe completed post hire.</p>

1. Facilitate curriculum on preventing substance abuse and promoting healthy relationships, youth sexual health, problem solving skills, communication skills, and other relevant life skills essential to living a healthy life style.<br />
2. Assist group participants in developing and fostering supportive relationships and increasing general problem solving and decision-making skills.<br />
3. Identify and/or develop activities and educational materials to increase cultural relevance of curriculum with assistance and input of the Health Education and Training team.<br />
4. Conduct outreach activities to recruit participants for the workshops and provide health information and resources.<br />
5. Enter and maintain participants’ data in an up-to-date manner in accordance with agency and funder requirements.<br />
6. Connect workshop participants with local community resources, as needed, including making referrals to the drug and alcohol case management program.<br />
7. Develop collaborative relationships with social and health care service providers as well as other community resources.<br />
8. Develop and submit monthly reports to supervisor.<br />
9. Maintain an ongoing record of position goals and work-plans.<br />
10. Regularly attend and actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and meetings with funders. Represent the project in external events as assigned by supervisor.<br />
11. Support other Health Education Department Programming.<br />
12. Performs related duties as assigned.</p>
<p>Experience, Education, and Licensure<br />
