<p>The presentations, survey of attendees and facilitated discussion will review the changing housing market and its effects on urban design, planning and development. The convergence of two major generations seeking the same housing opportunities, which have significant differences from the prior housing markets, will provide not only a new housing demand but critical changes to the location of population and employment. The three speakers are experts in past patterns and the dynamics forming these future ones. They will discuss their conditions and effective responses to those conditions. Additionally, through a survey of the participants, a facilitated discussion will expand upon these issues.</p>

<p>EDUCATION, TRAINING &amp; EXPERIENCE: Required Bachelor&#8217;s degree in any discipline, 5 to 7 years of managerial experience with progressive responsibilities to include supervising staff and monitoring budgets and 2 to 3 years of experience in training are required. Additional requirements and experiences include program evaluation with a background in statistical analyses; superior technology skills; proposal writing or success in securing state and federal grants and contracts; grants and contract management along with presentation skills and the ability to lead training sessions for both internal and external constituents.<br />

<p>The Pennsylvania State Office is accepting Concept Papers that propose to address the following focus areas from the Corporation’s 2011-2015 Strategic Plan:</p>
<p>Economic Opportunity: Safe and affordable housing for vulnerable families, enhanced financial literacy, and employment training and access<br />
Education: Improved school readiness and academic performance in K-12 schools, increased graduation rates and college enrollment and retention, and activities related to Turnaround Schools, School Improvement Grant (SIG) programs, and Together for Tomorrow<br />
Healthy Futures: Improved access to nutritious foods and health care<br />
Veterans and Military Families: Engaging veterans in service, providing service to veterans and military families</p>
<p>The Pennsylvania State Office will give priority to projects of at least three VISTA members. If your agency cannot program or administratively support this number of full-time members, collaborative partnerships that have similar programmatic focus will be considered. <p>Part I: Creating Authentic Opportunities for Youth Leadership<br />
How do we engage returning youth in ways that enhance their professional growth while strengthening our organization? Come learn new strategies for effectively incorporating the experiences and knowledge of older/returning youth. Explore the role of near-peer mentoring in building youth-friendly cultures, modeling those values, and establishing community amongst new and younger participants Learn how to cultivate a space that not only says you value youth contributions but that provides an outlet for that to happen.</p>
<p>PART II: COLLABRATORY!<br />
Learn how to combine the first-hand experiences of participants with the organizational know-how of staff to create shared goals around organizational initiatives. Attendees will bring one youth member of their organization to the workshop where we will demonstrate how co-learning environments can bring about collective decision making. We will revisit the activities/programs designed in Part one and or current leadership opportunities that your organization has for youth allowing the youth to provide feedback. Some potential topics to brainstorm could be recruitment, engagement, teambuilding, etc. This is a unique opportunity to explore the perspective of your youth around organizational issues which is critical to ensuring a well-functioning, well-led program.</p>

<p>About The Collaborative&#8211; The UCCP “prepares and supports youth and young adults to become confident, effective leaders and collaborates with organizations to create cultures that value and integrate the contributions of youth, thereby building stronger communities.”</p>
<p>We carry out this mission through direct programming, capacity building for other organizations, and applied research. We have provided workshops for small grass roots organizations, public agencies, citywide nonprofits, the School District of Philadelphia and colleges and universities. This conference which is lead by the Educational Activities Board will showcase the global reach of the EPICS in IEEE service learning program and also provide a unique opportunity to see a new virtual platform in motion.</p>
<p>The IEEE EPICS Around the Globe Virtual Conference features knowledgeable speakers who are the cornerstones of the program from Purdue University and IEEE alongside IEEE student branches who have successfully developed and executed an EPICS project.</p>

<p>The awards are unrestricted grants and reflect and reward past performance; funds may be used at the discretion of the recipient organizations. Past awards have ranged from $6,700 to $20,000.</p>
