At the request of Congress the Government Accountability Office (GAO) has been conducting a study on university endowments. In conducting the study, GAO visited and interviewed 10 universities, public and private, large and small. According to the GAO the study will make no recommendations; instead, it will focus on endowment size and growth over 20 years, restrictions, and spending policies and rates.
