How Much Good Can You Do?
Thanks to the commitment of thousands of individuals, the Stroehmann Bakeries Walk Against Hunger raises over $250,000 for for more than 100 food pantries, soup kitchens and local hunger-relief agencies every year.
How did those individual contributions fight hunger in communities throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey?
“We serve two hot meals a day and used the Walk money to provide healthier foods. The money raised helped us buy fresh meat and produce, as these items are not often donated here.”
–Elizabeth Coyne, Manna on Main Street (Lansdale, PA)
“Many people will contribute to help purchase food, but if we can’t pay the gas bill, we can’t cook the meals. The Walk funds help cover the other costs of running our soup kitchen program.”
–Karen Talarico, Cathedral Soup Kitchen (Camden, NJ)
“Walk funds help support The Food Trust’s network of nearly 30 farmers’ markets that provide fresh food access to underserved communities. In addition, these funds help support The Food Trust’s nutrition education programs in schools and recreation centers across the Philadelphia area.”
–Katy Wich, The Food Trust (Philadelphia)
“The Philadelphia Senior Center used Walk funds to supply services at three branches with daily meal service and purchase new kitchen equipment. PSC serves nearly 70,000 free and discounted meals to seniors 55 and over per year.”
–Helen Singa, Philadelphia Senior Center
How much good can your donation do? Plenty of good for local food pantries, soup kitchens and hunger-relief agencies that help hundreds of thousands of people in our communities every year.
