City Soup effort highlights upcoming Hunger Walk
Areas of Philadelphia are some of the hungriest in the nation. Recent statistics show that 1 in 4 Philadelphians are on the brink of hunger.
To help mobilize a united community to fight this “silent crisis,” the Philadelphia Interfaith Collective has established City Soup Philadelphia, an interfaith, interactive web-based tool and program designed to bring residents of southeastern Pennsylvania up to speed on the issue of hunger in Greater Philadelphia.
City Soup is an interfaith journey that will incorporate learning about hunger, getting to know people’s stories, preparing nutritious food, engaging in the collective power of prayer, writing to public officials about this national crisis and walking with purpose.
Read, reflect, discuss, share a simple soup meal and then donate collected savings when people from throughout the region gather together with others at the Stroehmann Bakeries Walk Against Hunger on April 10th.
