Good Schools Pennsylvania-Field Organizer

Good Schools Pennsylvania, a statewide grassroots advocacy organization promoting the fundamental right of all children to receive a high quality public education, is seeking a Field Organizer.
The organization has marked several key milestones, including securing legislation by the General Assembly authorizing a comprehensive “costing-out” study of the resources needed by schools to prepare all students to meet state academic standards, and the recent adoption by the governor and General Assembly of a new school funding formula based on that study.

The field organizer will assist with the next phase of the organization’s work, which includes sustaining and expanding upon these state-level policy reforms, as well as supporting students, parents and other concerned citizens in holding schools accountable for effective use of resources to close achievement gaps.

Qualifications include commitment to the mission of Good Schools Pennsylvania; a college degree with background in political science, education, social work, or communications and some prior experience with organizing or issues campaign (alternatively, four years related experience with organizing or issues campaign); ability to work with a wide range of people in a wide range of settings; strong communication and organization skills; and proficiency with MS Office Suite. Candidates should also be able to work evenings and weekends. Fluency in Spanish is desired.

The position will be based in Philadelphia, but requires travel to other regions of the state including Harrisburg, the Philadelphia suburbs and the Lehigh Valley. For the full job description, go here.
