New Book: Free for All

Hunter College Sociology professor Janet Poppendieck’s new book, Free for All: Fixing School Food in America, explains how the current system has broken our American school cafeterias. She outlines the history of the federally funded, national school lunch and breakfast programs, as well as the array of issues around childhood nutrition and health, ultimately staking her legislative claim for free school meals for all children. Read Mark Winne’s review of the book on the blog, Civileats.
