2027 Samuel A. Green Scholarship Program – Jan 11
Posted by Green Family Foundation on November 10, 2026
The Green Family Foundation and Firstrust Bank are excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2027 Samuel A. Green Scholarship Program!
Now in its 58th year, the program honors the legacy of Firstrust Bank founder Samuel A. Green, who believed deeply in the power of education and helping young people achieve their dreams.
Each year, the program awards up to 18 students with $20,000 in scholarships over four years ($5,000 annually), recognizing young leaders from the Greater Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley regions who demonstrate resilience, leadership, and a commitment to making a substantial impact in their communities.
What’s New for 2027?
This year, we’ve partnered with Scholarship America, a national leader in scholarship administration, to manage the application process.
While Scholarship America will administer applications and help identify the top candidates, the Green Family Foundation and Firstrust Bank will continue to make the final selections of our SAG Scholars.
We’ve also made a few changes to the application process to help us better understand each student’s experiences, accomplishments, and financial circumstances.
All applicants will now be asked to submit:
- A 300-word essay answering the question: “How will you use your college education to make a substantial impact in your community?”
- A letter of reference, submitted through an online recommendation process, highlighting the student’s demonstrated leadership.
- Financial information and additional application materials to help us better understand each student’s circumstances and educational needs.
These updates reflect our continued commitment to recognizing students who demonstrate leadership, resilience, and a desire to give back, while placing greater consideration on financial need and students who would be the first in their families to attend college.
Application Deadline: January 11, 2027
Students who live or attend school in the Greater Philadelphia or Lehigh Valley regions and plan to pursue full-time undergraduate studies at an accredited, not-for-profit college or university are encouraged to apply.
