Posted by Philadelphia Youth Football Academy on October 20, 2026
The Philadelphia Youth Football Academy (PYFA), located in the Northwest section of Philadelphia at Morris Estate Recreation Center, is a sports based youth development initiative designed to mentor Philadelphia youth. PYFA assists youth from low-income families in Philadelphia with strengthening their chances to live healthy lifestyles, graduate and obtain full-time employment, become entrepreneurs or gain admission to post-secondary institutions.
We are currently recruiting volunteer coaches for our 17u Boys Team. Our Out-of-School Football Coaches help our youth/players develop skills, sportsmanship, and a love for the game in a fun and safe environment. Their responsibilities include planning and leading practices, coaching during games, mentoring athletes, and communicating with parents. They also ensure a positive and supportive team environment, emphasizing fair play and equal participation.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Planning and Leading Practices: Develop and implement training programs tailored to our youth’s skill levels, focusing on skill development, safety, and sportsmanship.
- Coaching During Practice/Games: Provide guidance and instruction during practices/games, fostering teamwork and strategic thinking.
- Mentoring and Motivation: Encourage and motivate our youth/players to reach their potential, providing constructive feedback on their performance.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with parents/caregivers, sharing information about schedules, progress, and any concerns.
- Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all youth/players during practices/games, adhering to safety guidelines and emergency procedures.
- Positive Environment: Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment where all our youth/players feel valued and encouraged.
- Administrative Tasks: Manage attendance records, youth/player evaluations, and other administrative duties as assigned.
Our practices are Wednesday and Friday, from 6:00-8:00pm at the address to Morris Estate, 1610 W. Chelten Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19126. All volunteers must complete and pass the PA Child Abuse and Criminal Background clearances.
