Resources to Educate New Young Voters
Posted by Youth Service America on October 6, 2026
YSA’s ServiceVote campaign asks young people to help register, educate, and get their peers out to vote; to connect their volunteering and service to voting and advocacy on the issues they care about; and to call on public officials to create spaces at every decision-making table for young voices.
With over 8 million Americans having turned 18 since the 2024 election, voter education plays a vital role in ensuring that these new voters are prepared to navigate the voting process and make informed decisions. Encouraging youth to engage in discussions with their peers about key issues, researching candidates, and understanding how voting impacts their communities can create a ripple effect that strengthens our democracy.
YSA is proud to serve as the fiscal host for Guides.vote. The guides.vote team creates nonpartisan, intensively researched voter guides to key elections across the United States, in both English and Spanish. The guides allow readers to make confident voting decisions with a clear understanding of the candidates’ positions and of what’s at stake in each election.
By outlining the differences between candidates, these guides can help potential voters overcome misinformation, an overload of attack ads, or political cynicism. These guides look not just at candidate website postings, but at votes and stands they’ve taken as elected officials, what they’ve said at primaries, debates and town halls, and the full spectrum of their views.
Civic Bites is Guides.vote’s civic literacy campaign that delivers clear, accessible, non-partisan information about how our democratic systems work.
