Group for Kinship (Relative) Caregivers
Posted by Widener University on July 21, 2026
We are recruiting kinship caregivers to participate in a free 15-week program. Kinship caregivers include any relative who is raising a child who they are not the parent of, whether informally or through formal kinship placement. The groups focus on digital literacy skills, mental health, stress reduction, social connections, and mindfulness through weekly 2-hour sessions. Upon completion of the program, participants receive a Samsung tablet. Additionally, caregivers receive case management through the agency. We are particularly looking for kinship caregivers who care for children between 0-8 years old, but we are open to caregivers with children of any age.
There will be multiple groups running on different days and times through 2027 and will take place around Philadelphia, so referrals are appreciated at any time. Our next groups will be starting in September.
This project project was developed in partnership with Grand Central Kinship Resource Center,
Anyone interested in the program or learning more can email StrengthInKinship@gmail.com or call 215-557-1554, ext 3.
