Webinar: Government Imposter Scams – Jul 16
Posted by Consumer Finance Protection Bureau on July 14, 2026
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) joins other government agencies to offer a webinar focused on preventing financial harm from government imposter scams. Scammers pretend to be someone they’re not — including government agencies — to steal your money, gain access to your financial accounts, or take your personal information.
This Elder Fraud Prevention and Response Network (EFPRN) webinar will look at how to help older adults spot, avoid, and report these scams. Speakers include:
- Kira Krown, Consumer Education Specialist, Bureau of Consumer Protection, Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
- Rebecca Rose, Press Officer for the Office of Inspector General, Social Security Administration (SSA)
- Erin Scheithe, Investor Communications Specialist, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
- Donna Harris and Terri Tolliver, Public Information Representatives, U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS)
- Lisa Schifferle, Senior Policy Analyst, Office for Older Americans, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)
Date and Time: July 16, 2026, 2:00-3:15 PM
