Youth Monsterology (Student Peer Book Club with Independent Projects)
Posted by The Monster & the Child on May 26, 2026
Youth Monsterology is a five-month program that will involve a peer book club as well as close one-on-one mentorship as the students prepare an independent, community-facing academic, creative, and/or activist project. Not only will this appear unique and enticing on a college application, but it will also give students the opportunity to see their own ideas through from conception to completion in a supportive, nongraded environment. The first round is set to begin at the end of August and run through the end of January.
Youth Monsterology was developed by Dr. Kathleen Kellett and is based on her Childhood Studies doctoral dissertation program about monster lit, teenagers, and politics.
