Virtual Lunch & Learn: The Story of You: Reading & Racial Identity – May 21
Posted by Read by 4th on May 12, 2026
Reading is about so much more than words on a page. It’s how children understand the world, step into other perspectives, and discover who they are. And research tells us something powerful: when young children develop a strong, positive sense of racial identity, they don’t just feel better, they read better, engage more, and show up with more confidence in every room they enter. Identity and literacy aren’t separate conversations. They never were. Read by 4th is bringing people together to explore what that really means, for our children, our classrooms, and our city.
Join Lisa Browne of First Up for a conversation that connects research to real practice, with tangible strategies for cultivating culturally affirming literacy practices.
