Monarch Defenders Volunteer Day – May 17
Posted by Monarch Defenders on May 5, 2026
This year, Monarch Defenders Philly is expanding its network of youth-led monarch habitats around NW Philly as we take on two new sites. We will be planting a native pollinator garden at a vacant lot in Germantown in partnership with the Philadelphia Horticultural Society and a meadow along a section of train track at the Unitarian Society of Germantown. Building these habitats takes lots of work, so we are setting up monthly volunteer work days and would greatly appreciate anyone who would be willing to come out and help us!
Our first volunteer work day will be the afternoon of Sunday, May 17, from 2-4 pm. We will be planting the first phase of the pollinator garden with native plant plugs at the vacant lot located at the intersection of East Armat St X Morton St. Street parking is available nearby.
Please RSVP to Noah raven at noah@monarchdefenders.org so we can know if you are coming. We will send out more detailed information to those of you who will be attending. It really is fun to get your hands dirty and work with the earth!
As we expand our mission to save the monarch butterflies and other endangered pollinators and wildlife one habitat at a time, we greatly appreciate anyone who would come and help us out. If you cannot make it this date, we will have other volunteering opportunities in the coming months.
