Youth as Solutions Summer Peacemaking Cohort – May 7
Posted by National Youth Leadership Council on May 5, 2026
In partnership with 9/11 Day, Shinnyo-en Foundation, and AmeriCorps, this national initiative, Youth As Solutions, invites middle and high school youth to honor the 25th anniversary of September 11 through service, remembrance, and community action.
Through this program, young people will work alongside multi-faith communities to identify and address issues related to hunger in their local communities while building leadership and service-learning skills that create lasting impact.
The Summer Peacemaking Cohort is part of NYLC’s Youth as Solutions program, a guided service-learning experience where youth teams collaborate with an adult mentor to tackle real community challenges.
Selected teams will receive:
- Training and coaching from NYLC staff
- A digital service-learning toolkit
- Access to a national peer learning community
- A $1,000 implementation grant
- Opportunities to participate in NYLC’s National 9/11 Day Media Campaign
Ten selected teams will work from spring through September 2026 to design and implement community-based projects focused on hunger and peacemaking.
This opportunity is ideal for educators, afterschool programs, youth organizations, and community groups ready to empower young people as leaders and changemakers through meaningful service-learning experiences.
