Upward Bound Summer Core Instructor Role (Part-Time)
Posted by University of Pennsylvania on March 31, 2026
The Upward Bound program at the University of Pennsylvania is currently looking to hire one Summer Core Instructor for each of our core subjects (English, math, science, history) for our summer college prep program! The goal of the Summer Program is to offer 30-35 students an academically-intensive residential program that will simulate a college-going experience and give students a jumpstart on the upcoming year’s academic curriculum. The Summer Program will commence with the Summer Program Orientation & Welcome Week, a week-long program that prepares students for the Summer Program. Instruction will be offered in core curriculum courses: math, English language arts, history, and science. In addition to core curriculum instruction, the Summer Program will offer Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday elective courses (e.g., Neuroscience, Photography, and Senior Seminar for rising seniors) and additional services including tutoring, career exploration, and college tours.
The summer program will begin on Monday, June 15th and end on Friday, July 24th. However, core academic classes are scheduled to take place over the course of four weeks: June 22 to July 16, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm.
Instructors would be compensated up to $32/hour for 18 hours/week (including built in daily prep time) for four weeks. During the summer, instructors teach three classes (rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors).
If interested in this opportunity, please email Macy Smith your resume at msmith9@upenn.edu and 3-4 dates/times that you are free to interview over the next two weeks.
