Fall Educational Programs at Fairmount Water Works

With a new school year approaching, The Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center is expanding its course offerings for students in all grades.
Coming in September is History of the Manayunk Canal: Industrial Revolution, Environmental Devolution. This half-day class is designed for students in grades 4 through 8. The industrial history of this neighborhood reveals the devastating impact of industrialization on the drinking water supply in the City of Philadelphia – namely, a public health crisis. Through walking tours and examination of 100-year-old documents, students will examine the rise and fall of the Manayunk section of Philadelphia and its impact on the Schuylkill River.

* From Street to Stream: Slow the Flow
* Building as Machine: Water for the City
* Seeing Is Believing: A Drop In the Bucket
