Webinar: Exploring Academic Freedom in Higher Education – Nov 5
Posted by Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE) on October 28, 2025
Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking webinar on the state of academic freedom in higher education. Together, we’ll examine its historical roots and discuss recent challenges that threaten the autonomy of educators and researchers.
Participants will gain insight into the federal legislative process and how policy decisions shape what and how we teach as mathematics (teacher) educators. Through collective learning, dialogue, and action planning, we’ll strengthen our shared commitment to academic integrity and the free exchange of ideas.
Speakers:
- Kathryn T. Taylor, Program Coordinator, Center for the Defense of Academic Freedom
- Isaac Kamola, Associate Professor of Political Science at Trinity College, Director of the Center for the Defense of Academic Freedom and founder of Faculty First Responders
Date and Time: November 5, 2025, 3:00 PM
