Virtual Event: Rent Regulation in Practice: Economic Insights and Regional Perspectives – Jul 10
Posted by Bipartisan Policy Center on June 10, 2025
Rent regulation—commonly known as rent control—has existed for decades in many large U.S. cities. But interest in these policies grew after the COVID-19 pandemic, as once-affordable regions faced rising housing costs. Join the Bipartisan Policy Center for a discussion with economic experts on how rent regulation affects housing supply, quality, and affordability. Panelists will present research findings and explore the real-world impact of rent regulation policies on tenants and housing providers in two regions: Washington, DC, which enacted rent regulation in 1973, and St. Paul, Minnesota, where a rent stabilization ordinance took effect in 2022.
This event will be held virtually on July 10, 2025, 2:00-3:00 PM
