AmeriCorps Community Update
Posted by GivePulse on April 29, 2025
Recent changes initiated by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are beginning to impact the AmeriCorps agency. These include the demobilization of AmeriCorps NCCC (including FEMA Corps) and the placement of a significant portion of agency staff (federal employees) on administrative leave. Commission staff are not impacted by these actions.
While the full implications are still unfolding, these changes could affect operations and support structures across national service programs. We recognize the uncertainty this creates for many in our network and are committed to keeping you informed as more details emerge.
For now, AmeriCorps programs—including State and National—remain active, and education award processing is not affected. We will continue to monitor the situation and share updates relevant to our community of partners, nonprofits, campuses, and volunteers.
America’s Service Commissions has created a FastAction center, allowing you to easily contact your senators and representatives of Congress to sustain AmeriCorps Funding.
