MLK Day Volunteer Opportunity: Assemble “Civic Engagement Starter Kits” – Jan 20
Posted by Committee of Seventy on January 14, 2025
This MLK Day, join the Committee of Seventy in empowering Philadelphians to engage more deeply with their local government. Building on the momentum of the recent presidential election election, this project channels that energy into local engagement, equipping residents to influence the future of their neighborhoods and city.
As a volunteer, you’ll help us assemble Civic Engagement Starter Kits: Understanding How Philly Works made up of resources from the Committee of Seventy’s How Philly Works initiative. This is a hands-on project designed to provide accessible, actionable tools for understanding and navigating Philadelphia’s government. These kits are part of a broader effort to expand the reach of the How Philly Works initiative, ensuring this vital civic education resource reaches even more residents.
With your help, we’ll prepare 500 kits over two hours, turning essential materials into powerful tools for civic engagement. Each kit created will help inspire local action, strengthen connections, and make navigating Philadelphia’s government more accessible for every resident.
