Teaching Artist (Part-Time), Barnes Foundation

The part-time Teaching Artist will be responsible for delivering afterschool arts-based programming for PreK-4th grade learners enrolled at Barnes partner school, Community Partnership School, through an informal learning initiative designed by the Barnes’s Community Engagement Department.
Additional in-classroom support will be provided by school administration. The program is active from January through June, and the schedule is every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6pm. This position pays $65/hour and we anticipate an average weekly schedule of six to eight hours per week for preparation, instruction and evaluation.
Education/Training/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in art education, museum education or related field and 2 years’ work experience in community arts or cultural institutions OR high school/some college and 2 to 4 years’ work experience in community arts or cultural institutions;
- Administrative and/or teaching experience in community youth and family settings in museums, community-based agencies or schools. Background in arts education preferred.
- Experience developing curricula, activities, and lessons geared toward early childhood learners.
- Ability to work across diverse groups, including external program partners and caregivers in learning environments.
- Strong interest in community partnerships and arts as a pathway for equity and social justice.
- Successful clearance of background criminal check, fingerprinting, and other required state and federal child clearances.
- Strong written and communication skills
- Trauma-informed and trauma responsive training are a plus
