Zoom Event: Intro to Youth Service America Education & Training Opportunities (Service & Service-Learning) – Nov 19

Posted by Youth Service America on November 12, 2024

Does your school have community service or service-learning requirements? Interested in making them more meaningful and effective instead of forcing students and parents to chase hours and limited opportunities at local nonprofits? Want to bring an engaging professional development opportunity to your teachers that provides meaningful advancement and translates to student success?

Join an informational session about Youth Service America’s Education & Training Programs on Tuesday, November 19 at 11:00am Eastern. Scott Ganske, YSA’s Vice President of Education, will share recommendations on how to make service requirements more meaningful and do a walkthrough of our Designing & Implementing a Service-Learning Experience online course developed in collaboration with Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. He’ll share how you can access a discounted group rate as well as other training, resources, and consultation opportunities we can provide to your school.

The course provides strategies to engage students and facilitate meaningful service-learning experiences, including how to:

  1. Create an outline for implementing the meaningful service project over a week, month, or semester.
  2. Recognize strategies that lead to effective and authentic youth/adult partnerships.
  3. Identify ways meaningful service projects can be cross-curricular, involve multiple classrooms, and improve teacher collaboration.
  4. Understand the process of facilitating a student-designed service project that harnesses the development of durable skills.

Can’t attend, but want to learn more? Register for the session anyway, and we’ll send more information to all registrants. Or you can e-mail Scott.
