Community Mental Wellness Toolkit

MEE Productions is looking forward to an exciting and eventful 2010.  One of our first big projects is the release of our Community Mental Wellness Toolkit, based on a just-completed national research project with low-income African Americans.  Because mental and emotional issues impact behaviors in so many areas – interpersonal violence, substance abuse and sexual health, for example – we expect that the Toolkit and the underlying research will meaningful for a wide cross-section of organizations and agencies.  Early next year, several elements of the Toolkit will be made available for registered members only of MEE’s Community Network to read and download at no cost.

The Toolkit brings the most effective communication strategies uncovered in MEE’s audience research to life in ways that are immediately applicable in a number of community settings. Our multi-city focus group research findings can help CBOs and others reach out to the broader community about the importance of culturally-relevant mental health services and programs, both for prevention and treatment. The research also provides information about potential indicators of emotional and psychological issues, along with protective factors that can support young people in dealing with such issues.
