2024 Civic Season

Posted by Youth Service America on June 25, 2024

Juneteenth marked the beginning of the fourth annual Civic Season, a new summer tradition focused on utilizing our past to prepare for our future. Civic Season unites our nation’s newest holiday, Juneteenth, with its oldest holiday, July 4th, in a summertime celebration of who we are as a nation, how we got here, and where we want to go next. Gen Z is the generation stepping into adult citizenship on the cusp of the United States’ 250th birthday in 2026; Civic Season invites them to have a voice in the conversations that will shape it.

The Season kicked off with celebrations across the nation, and continues through July 4th with hundreds of events and activities from 500 nonpartisan museums, libraries, and historic sites, all to help people understand and connect with U.S. history and civics.

Hundreds of activities and resources can be found at TheCivicSeason.com, ranging from all-day, in-person events to five-minute virtual ideas. The possibilities are limitless, and the range of quizzes, personalized lists of activities, poster generators, and an online zine ensure that there is space for each individual to play their part-at their own pace, and according to their own needs and interests.
