Future Visions: Dobbins High School Teen Documentary on Violence and the Connection to Environmental and Social Issues
Posted by Dobbins High School on June 4, 2024
A group of teens at Dobbins Career & Technical High School in Philadelphia set out to make a documentary, Future Visions, investigating the root causes under the record levels of violence in the city. The story became a document of their own action-research journey through meeting with community leaders, developing an interest in urban farming, and starting a community garden at school along with experiments in harvesting food and developing natural cosmetics. The documentary features in depth interviews with YEAH Philly, House of Umoja, North Philly Peace Park, Urban Creators, Soil Generation, and U School.
