2024 PA School District Fact Sheets

Public schools across the state will see significant and urgently needed investments with the passage of Governor Shapiro’s proposal to begin reversing the state’s unconstitutional underfunding of K-12 education, according to 2024 School District Fact Sheets released by PA Schools Work, a nonpartisan statewide movement working to make sure public schools are fully and fairly funded.

More than a year has passed since the historic Commonwealth Court ruling declaring the school funding system in Pennsylvania to be unconstitutional. Governor Shapiro is taking historic action in response, with a proposed budget for fiscal year 2024-25 that contains a $1.8 billion increase for public schools, including increases to basic and special education funding for all public schools, additional dollars for the most underfunded schools, investments in school building repairs, and more.

The School District fact sheets present what each of the state’s 500 school districts will receive under the governor’s proposal, which will begin to fix the unconstitutional public school funding system that has failed too many students for decades. With the governor’s proposed investment, public schools will get more of the resources needed to hire and keep great teachers, reduce class sizes, repair and upgrade schools, and provide mental health support and special education. Without it, school districts, once again, will not be able to keep up with rising mandated costs, increases in instructional expenses, and the unfair burden of outsized cyber charter school tuition costs, and students will continue to suffer.
