THIS IS A GRANT FUND POSITION

This position provides administrative and logistical direction for the educator diversity programs, initiatives, and professional and student staff affiliated with the College Access Unit in the College of Education and Human Development and funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Under the leadership of  the Assistant Dean of College Access and Persistence, the Assistant Director manages the day-to-day decision-making regarding, and supervision of, the ten grant-funded initiatives, including dual enrollment and summer programming, Early Childhood Education Equity Initiative, advising for current teacher education students, collaboration with Teach Plus regarding the Philadelphia Teacher Affinity Group Network, Educational Leadership Program workshops, partnership with Career and Technical Education programs in General Education, and the professional development of faculty and staff. Among the key responsibilities of the Assistant Director is the outreach to potential high school partners and dual enrollment and summer program course participants, on-going communication, scheduling and other logistics management with existing school and community partners (i.e. Center for Black Educator Development, Teach Plus, the Pennsylvania Educator Diversity Consortium, the Philadelphia Citywide Talent Coation) and program participants, general oversight of the daily activities of on and off-campus programming for grant-funded educator diversity initiatives, data collection and management, and supervision of student workers and interns. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for working with marketing and communication personnel at the College to promote programming and with the Assistant Dean of College Access and Persistence to identify and pursue funding and scholarship opportunities to support and grow the Educator Diversity programming at the College.

Additionally, the Assistant Director will provide facilitative leadership for the teacher education pathway collaboration with Science Leadership Academy @ Beeber and the Pennsylvania Educator Diversity Consortium. In this role, the Assistant Director will coordinate collaborations across units within the College as well as within the university in support of first-generation and traditionally underrepresented students in teacher education majors. This person has direct oversight of day to day departmental operations and provides direct supervision and guidance to the departmental administrative employee.  Will perform other duties as assigned.
