29th Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service Planning Webinars – Oct 11 & 25

Posted by Global Citizen on October 3, 2023

Please join us for the 29th annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service, the largest King Day event in the nation, which will be marked on the January 15, 2024 federal holiday. Tens of thousands of people throughout the region from all backgrounds and ages will embrace Dr. King’s legacy of racial and social justice, education, and citizen action on King Day and beyond.

The overarching theme is the 60th anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which also embraced voting rights protections. Recognizing that the upcoming 2024 elections are so consequential to promoting democratic principals, please consider organizing projects which reflect a voting rights theme. Most importantly, it is urged that initiatives reflect Dr, King’s life and legacy most relevant to the organizers and the communities they represent, and has the potential for year-round impact.

To help support your organizing efforts, we will be hosting a series of King Day of Service planning webinars to support project development, outreach, volunteer management and community impact. The webinars are all virtual. Please sign up for these workshops and share these opportunities with others (More dates will be added as we get closer to King Day.):

  • October 11, 2023, 1:00-2:00 PM: Year Round Volunteer Program (Non-King Day Events)
  • October 25, 2023, 10:00-11:00 AM: Year Round Volunteer Program (Non-King Day Events)
