Through interactive discussions, activities, and resource sharing, we will delve into topics such as:

  • Understanding the terminology, definitions, and history of the civic and community engagement field.
  • Understanding key literature, current models, organizational structures, principles, and best practices for campus-community engagement.
  • Reflecting on your identity as a civic / community engagement professional, advocating for your work, and leveraging opportunities for professional development.
  • Analyzing the differences and value of co-curricular and curricular community engagement, building trust, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders and leveraging partnerships.
  • Understanding current and future trends including overcoming challenges and navigating barriers as well as evaluating the impact and outcomes of community engagement initiatives.
