AARP Foundation invites applications for efforts to advance economic opportunity among older adults
AARP Foundation, the charitable affiliate of AARP, works to end poverty among seniors by helping people over the age of 50 build economic opportunity.
To that end, the foundation seeks forward-thinking direct service projects that develop and test new approaches and solutions to help older adults with low income secure the essentials. The foundation aims to fund organizations working to solve urgent problems and will support projects across the life cycle, including program implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of learnings. This opportunity will provide funding for two to three years, and historically, grant amounts for similar opportunities have ranged between $50,000 and $250,000 per year. Projects would test or expand new methods for helping vulnerable older adults grow their incomes and reduce their expenditures, putting them on a path toward financial stability.
All proposed programs must be focused on older adults with low income. Organizations that have experience with effective direct service programs will be prioritized.
The foundation will prioritize applications that serve populations disproportionately affected by systemic barriers, racial and ethnic disparities, and other harmful biases. In addition, it has a particular interest in projects/programs that serve older adults in 22 U.S. states and territories with high levels of senior poverty: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and Puerto Rico.
Pre-applications are due August 4, 2023, and upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by September 8, 2023.
For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the AARP Foundation website.
Deadline: August 4, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. ET (Pre-applications)
