Coalition Virtual Conversation: Affirmative Action – Jul 12
Posted by Campus Compact on July 11, 2023
We hope you will join us on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, 12:00-1:00 PM Eastern for a coalition conversation focused on the recent Supreme Court affirmative action ruling.
Connect with colleagues about the ongoing impact of the Supreme Court affirmative action ruling and begin to plan ways we can collaboratively work to move forward diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts on campuses and in communities.
Our agenda will feature:
- A brief, high-level overview from Paulette Granberry Russell, President of NADOHE, on the legal implications of the ruling and how higher education is responding.
- Perspectives from Richard Guarasci, President Emerti of Wagner College, about how community engagement leaders can respond through partnerships and pathways programs, based on his recent book, Neighborhood Democracy
- Thoughts from Campus Compact Fellow Castel Sweet around how this decision is impacting practitioners and in particular within the context of an integrated DEIB and Civic Engagement structure
- Space to reflect, react, and be with a supportive group of colleagues to discuss how community engagement efforts will continue to ensure that higher ed is an accessible, inclusive space for everyone
