Drexel Research Study: Seeking People Who Volunteered In-person or Virtually in Local Schools
Posted by Drexel University on June 13, 2023
The purpose of this study is to understand the benefits you experience from volunteering your time online or in-person whether you were paid/unpaid across different schools in the Philadelphia region. If you choose to participate, you will be asked a series of questions in the form of an interview where you will be expected to share your experiences with the interviewer, a member of the research team. The interview will be recorded online using a secure, Drexel licensed account on Zoom.
The discussion may last anywhere between 45 minutes – 1.5 hours, depending on where you decide to elaborate in the sharing of your experiences with us. Your participation will earn you a choice to receive a small financial compensation or you can decide to donate your earnings to a charitable organization of your choice. If you choose to donate your study earnings, the funding will be provided independently by members of the research team and in no way will be affiliated with Drexel University funding. Payments will be made approximately one week after the interview session.
Eligibility
We are looking for U.S.-based adults who are at least 18 years old, speak English fluently, reside in the U.S., and have engaged in some sort of volunteering for a school in the Philadelphia region within the past 3 months.
For “online volunteering”, we are referring to the following operational definition: “Online volunteering consists of formal volunteer work that partly or wholly uses a device connected to Internet-based technologies to perform tasks for an organization in order to contribute to a mission-oriented cause that benefits society.”- C. Anthony
