The Sisters of Saint Joseph Welcome Center, one of the sponsored ministries of the Congregation, is seeking a vibrant, full-time Director who is committed to direct service with immigrants and under-resourced individuals in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Director manages the overall operations of the Center, including but not limited to, finances, development, programming, and outreach to an urban neighborhood.  She/he collaborates with Congregational leadership, the Advisory Board, staff, volunteers, and various community organizations to offer opportunities that enable immigrants and others to improve the quality of their lives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Commits to the Mission/Vision of the Sisters of Saint Joseph
• Provides the public face of the Welcome Center to the Congregation, Church related entities and local community organizations in networking for furthering the work of the Center.
• Advocates for Immigrant Rights on local, state and national level.
• Oversees Outreach activities and services
• Directs the overall operations of the Welcome Center, including but not limited to, finances, maintenance, development, programming, and outreach.
• Formulates and implements goals and collaborates with staff to develop policies and programs.
• Establishes and maintains connections with Donors, Grantors, and providers of pro-bono services.
• Directs the operation of the Advisory Board including soliciting and orienting members which will enable them to fulfill their task to assist in forwarding the work and mission of the Center.
• Oversees and supervises all Welcome Center personnel and volunteers.

EDUCATION:  MS/MA in appropriately related field or human services equivalent

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Immigration and literacy issues
• Knowledge of Spanish language

EXPERIENCE: Administrative/management experience

 OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to network
• Commitment to diversity of people in an urban neighborhood
• Effective written, verbal, and public communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment where priorities frequently change
• Basic computer literacy

The successful candidate will possess an understanding of immigration and literacy challenges/issues, skill in networking with other organizations, donors, grantors, and providers of pro-bono services and a strong commitment to diversity in an urban environment.  Qualifications include successful administrative/management experience and a master’s degree in an appropriate field or the human services equivalent.

Salary range: 65-75K. Compensation package (which includes benefits) will be dependent on credentials and experience.
