Philadelphia Youth Basketball, Inc. (PYB) was officially launched in June 2015, with a mission to create transformative opportunities for thousands of young people, especially those from under-resourced families and communities, to reach their full potential as students, athletes, and positive leaders. A diverse and impassioned group of individuals, including leaders from the grass-roots to the tree-tops, have been working diligently to execute upon this mission by building an impactful program, a robust and sustainable organization, and ultimately a state-of-the-art Youth Development and Community Empowerment Center, to enable us to provide empowering experiences to many more children, youth, and families.
As we continue to generate scalable impact, we rely heavily on the skills and passions of professionals of all ages who are able to provide expertise in a variety of ways. We are seeking to hire a contracted grant writer to add real value to our organization’s efforts on the development team.
Core Work Scope & Responsibilities:
- Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs
of the organization - Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies, including attending information sessions about funding opportunities
- Draft grant proposals and reports, including supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization
- Submit proposals to Development Manager for review and approval
- Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders, including acknowledgement correspondence
- Maintain up to date records related to grant opportunities, using existing organizational systems (primarily our Grants Pipeline – Google Sheets, and Bloomerang – CRM platform).
- Support administrative duties as they relate to grant-related activities, including but not limited to participating in phone/Zoom calls, sending emails, and scheduling meeting
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven commitment to and passion for youth development, community empowerment, and social impact work
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, especially in technical grant writing
- Well-developed analytical skills with a prideful attention to detail
- Strong work ethic and ability to be self-motivated and work independently
Proficient using Google Suite and CRM Softwares
Compensation and Time Commitment:
This is a contracted position with the ideal candidate working 20 hours per week, with the potential opportunity for up to 30 hours per week. This is a primarily remote position, where candidates can flexibly complete grants work; however, preference may be given to someone able to commute to our Philadelphia office 2-3x/month.
Compensation: $25/hour
