Black + Gold Series: Fireside Chat with Otis Hackney – Jun 7
Posted by Mayor's Office of Public Engagement on June 7, 2022
How can Philadelphians who care about young people work together to create inclusive environments where all young people thrive?
The Black + Gold Series is a new initiative launched by the Office of Public Engagement in February, designed to foster relationships between Philadelphia’s Black and Asian American communities.
In this Black + Gold Series Fireside Chat the City’s Chief Education Officer Otis Hackney and Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Public Engagement, Romana Lee-Akiyama, reflect on Philadelphia’s past so that we can learn from previous efforts to address racial tension in Philadelphia, and talk about key steps to make an environment supportive for all students.
How do we scale past successes? What is possible? How can we be committed to being part of the solution to address complex relationships and move towards healing?
Be sure to set a reminder to watch the full conversation premiering on our EngagingPHL YouTube channel on Tuesday, June 7 at 3:30pm!
