Masc Ally Month: Lean On Me: Undoing Toxic Independence Culture – May 9
Posted by Gender Justice Fund on May 3, 2022
Masc Ally Month is a partnership between Gender Justice Fund and the Masculinity Action Project at Lutheran Settlement House designed to engage and equip men and masculine-identified individuals to become allies for gender justice, specifically here in the Philly region.
Toxic Masculinity teaches toxic independence, leading to feeling depleted, isolated and burned out. In this workshop, we will flip the toxic script, prioritizing collective care over individual obligation. Through group discussion, somatic exercises and collaborative play, participants will increase their capacity for vulnerable exchange, forging community and building joy-based resiliency. Potluck to follow; participants invited (but not required) to bring a dish to share.
Date and Time: Monday, May 9, 6:00-8:00 PM
Location: Lutheran Settlement House, 1340 Frankford Avenue, Phila., PA
Ticket required, space is limited. Appropriate for 18+. Event will be held indoors and all attendees must wear a surgical grade or higher mask over their nose and mouth for the duration of the event. Space is wheelchair accessible with ramps and automatic doors. Single-person gender neutral bathrooms available.
