Projects Dedicated to Sustainable and Equitable Energy – May 3

With a vision of everyone supporting a healthy planet, EarthShare amplifies impact through various tools, programs, and inspirational content to engage businesses, individuals, and nonprofits, making it possible for a larger, more inclusive community of people to help solve the environmental crisis.

To that end, EarthShare is inviting applications for its grants program, The Energy of One, The Power of Many, which is dedicated to establishing community-level initiatives in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Arizona focused on sustainable and equitable energy. Through the program, grants of between $5,000 and $50,000 will be awarded to support innovative proposals that promote public understanding of the complex and evolving role of energy in our daily lives.

Grantee organizations’ programs should be dedicated to educating community members about the impact their energy choices can have in supporting a cleaner energy future that improves lives and the health of our planet. The results of these projects will be shared as part of EarthShare’s Powering Choice Initiative. This broader, public-facing program will promote energy choice through education, coalition building, public outreach, and comprehensive information sharing.

Collaborative partnerships are encouraged, including organizations without a primary environmental focus. This funding opportunity aims for new approaches to offering education and resources that help people understand options in energy choice, particularly in low-income communities, and the importance of transitioning to sustainable energy sources. Projects that address equity, just transition, and job training in the clean energy and energy efficiency arenas are encouraged. Projects must benefit one or more of the following metropolitan areas: Phoenix or Tucson in Arizona; Harrisburg, Philadelphia, or Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania; or Baltimore or Annapolis in Maryland.

Organizations must be tax-exempt as defined by section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or have a fiscal sponsor with such status. Initiatives must benefit one or more of the specific metropolitan areas in Maryland, Pennsylvania, or Arizona.
