Make a Difference, Become a Poll Worker

Posted by Office of the Philadelphia City Commissioners on March 15, 2022

The Office of the City Commissioners fills Poll Worker vacancies when Judges of Election are unable to do so. Poll Workers open voting machines at the beginning of the day, check voters into the polling place, support the functioning of the polling place, and close everything up at the end of the night. Individuals interested in filling these positions must attend training and be available to work on Election Day from 6:15 AM until election materials are picked up from the polling place location sometime after 8:00 PM. Appointed Poll Workers must be qualified electors of Philadelphia and meet all other qualifications required of election board officers.

For “Judge of Election” each appointed Poll Worker will receive a stipend of ($120 for Election Day; and $30 for in person and online training classes).

For “Machine Inspector” each appointed Poll Worker will receive a stipend of ($115 for Election Day; and $30 for in person and online training classes).
